Embedding an object in Clear Resin

A short demonstration of embedding a small pewter casting into Clear Casting polyester Resin, a common method in the production of small decorative items like paperweights items of jewelry and the presentation of artifacts.
A layer of resin is first poured to the level the object is to be placed, then a second layer poured to cover the object completely, multiple objects can be embedded at many levels by increasing the number of resin layers.

@TirantiUk
@TirantiUk 7 лет назад
Pressure pots can be used to make air bubbles decrease in size to hide them, vacuum chambers can be used to expand the air so that it escapes the material entirely giving you a completley bubble free material. mix slowly and carefully and you should avoid most air bubble problems.

It depends how you treat it, if you leave it in harsh climates and leave it out all the time then it will break, if you put it inside in bad weather and only leave it out on sunny days then it will last forever.

Organic material can be tricky, the moisture may prevent the resin from setting properly, even if successful there is a risk that it will rot and crack the resin, general advise with organics is to partially dry first.
