I already answer the same question in here, but there you go long short story, it's all about arlecchino childhood memories and how her best friend should die because of the rules that previous Knave made in House of The Hearth to make a greatest knight in fatui (the rules they should fight each other to become the one) and finally arlecchino take a revenge againts the "Mother" (Crucabena, previous "Knave" harbingers) then after she killed her, she's become the next "Knave" and because how the "Mother" act the children like that, she pretend to be a "Father" rather than "Mother" and she change the rules in the House of The Hearth after that. it's more complicated but i can only explain to this, you can find more about it on wiki or genshin fanpages, or maybe you can watch the original animation, i put the link in the description
