Holy shit the Clarkson bit sent me. (For anyone wondering what the "Oh no! Anyway-" bit is from, that's Jeremy Clarkson, one of the former hosts of the BBC program Top Gear. Phenomenal show while Clarkson was on, even if you have no interest in cars it manages to be entertaining, simply because of the chemistry between the hosts (Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond). It does have some irreverent, intentionally offensive humor though.)
Lol, yeah. I was a hard core fan from Awakening to Three Houses. Now, however, between Warriors, Heroes, and now this game, I feel like the idea of recurring characters has become way over saturated. It's hard for the new guys to stand on they're own and be memorable with the old characters stealing all the thunder. Doesn't help that these new guys are so repulsive to look at though.
@@joshuabrown6791 Tbf, Warriors, Heroes and Engage are what the Tales of the World series is to the the 'Tales of' franchise. The 'Tales of' main games and main Fire Emblem games still exist, but sometimes they want to give more attention to the old characters, and I can hardly blame them for indulging. Outside the mobile game, modern gamers haven't gotten much exposure to most of these older protagonists with the exception of maybe Marth and Lyn. I was genuinely surprised we were EVER going to get a mainstream game with Sigurd and several others.
A lot of times you need to view certain supports or the higher rank supports in a chain to get a better look at a given personality. A lot of reviewers I wager don't put forth the effort to do so, given how much time it can take in a game like this.
@@Ryodraco And yet they don't fully seem to realize that their view/opinion can affect/influence the sale/ratings of a game. A game should be fully reviewed when it's completed (not even 100%) but at least Most of it then seeming slamming it like Arlo did (Seemingly).
@@starless4146 no, he was spot on, because nothing changed. The emblems do have their personalities, but the regular characters barely have one. I mean the character trait of 4 units is literally muscles, 1 is about tea and stalking, another one is just about tea. Like, seriously, they ran out of two dimensional traits quickly
I haven't bought this game and don't plan to but can someone explain to me what is with the character design lol. Soren is the only character from this lineup that looks remotely like he's from the Fire Emblem series. Everyone else are just cute moe anime girls in dresses of varying levels of impracticality. Not even clerics or mages used to look like this. They look more like pop idols than combatants. No one is in any way suited for a fight. What a weird looking cast.
Its campy and based on French fashion. Look at older French royalty and you will get it lol. Soren is from an older Fire Emblem game, Path of Radiance, and reflects a different style. The designers obviously had fun with their research and development
@@captainteemo520 old French fashion wasn't for combat lol. Since you brought up PoR, if you compare this cast to that, or its sequel Radiant Dawn, it's night and day in terms of the quality of character design and the fact that they were generally appropriately dressed for their role in the story. I've felt character and costume design has slowly been on the decline since Tellius but this game really takes the cake for me in terms of how bizarre it looks for the premise.
@@FullMetalFeline These outfits aren't for combat either. Supports take place between battles in their casual clothes, not the clothes they wear in battle. Don't get me wrong, engage is far from my favorite FE game in terms of art direction, but its not nearly as far out there as, like, awakening.
I honestly don't get the love for Soren. Yeah his story line was cool. Yeah he has a deep past and character. yes he is one of the few characters with a personality. Sure he is a great mage. Yeah sarcasm aside Soren is cool.
