Listen to the strings behind it man, the orchestra5ion, the melodies, the harmonies it’s just a bliss that will never be compared to, thank you Embrace for pure natural incredible talent and precious memories
Not sure if they were underrated, but I think the songs put up on RU-vid were only put up recently and that could have been 5 years ago which means this generation won't be familiar with their songs at all.....which in turn means less likes. At the time they exploded they were massive with the first album and carried on making lots of dough touring their asses off. I think Blur and Oasis were more clever in regards to using the media to manipulate more success whereas bands like Embrace, Mansun, The Open and maybe the Superfurryanimals hadn't a clue how to use the media or just weren't interested in that part. They had 3 no 1. albums and 6 top 10 singles which is more than most in regards to the other bands around at the time. They spent 9 weeks in the top ten with one song.. There second album was brilliant in my eyes. They got clever making a national anthem song for england's attempt to win the world cup and that got to no. 3 which is the only time in their careers that they were clever in regards to marketing their music. A Lot of the time it's down to the management of the band as it's the manager with the best ideas who gets the band the most success. Oasis had 8 no. 1s 23 top 10 singles but they were marketing masters.. They knew that to stay relevant that you had to learn how to make the papers and often a lot of the chaos bs that they brought with them was all staged and orchestrated to make the news headlines which meant more records sales. Think about it, as Embrace who didn't have much marketing wit actually had 7 top 10 albums, 6 top 10 singles along with 3 no. 1 albums. The Good will Out, a brilliant album, along with Out of Nothing a good album and This New Day which I could never get into as maybe I didn't give it enough time. Conclusion, I think Embrace were huge in the UK for the first album then they had a dip with the brilliant 2nd album which just wan't received as well as the first one.. Then the third Album Out of Nothing went to No. 1 and the follow up "This New Day," also went to no 1 but I think that was slated by the critics. Their comeback album self titled EMBRACE is a brilliant album, which reached no. 5 and then the last album which was very average but not dreadful. "Love is a Basic Need." also reached no 5 in the charts. Embrace just didn't stay as relevant as Oasis and Blur because they took long breaks after albums but still they managed to keep their fanbase just like Mansun did.. Hopefully you can see now that they got a lot of credit at times but they never remained relevant enough to build a fanbase as big as Oasis..
.......compared to ocean colour scene( in musicianship).....they weren't that great.......bloc partys, variety of invention were also unmatched.......they were as good as shed seven/,the auteurs,/the charlatans,/maximo park,/gene,/suede,.......(I agree with the other guy that oasis were more media savvy)......
This album is one of my 20 tops all time! That says alot. Remember buying it in 98 and playing it all the time for a few tears. followed it with shit in 00 but the one from 05 is great as well!
turbonator1310 The first album was absolutely their best, not that the last is rubbish, in fact is a very good record, but not good as The good will Out. Ciao:)
I bought this single as soon as it came out I just absolutely loved it, it was mid ‘p’s second summer of love, it was 60’s all over again but better, Embrace were extremely underrated band this song used to bring me to tears I had a condition very few had heard of at the time, called Depression, back then they didn’t know what it was and the lyrics so captured what I was fee,I got, embarrassment a kind of shame for feeling depressed that I didn’t want anyone I mean anyone knowing about it so the lyrics my weakness is none of your business and the melody, harmony, the voice, the sound was just so incredible to me that I had to have the album when it came out I still by luck as lost ,it of CD’s to ex fiancés just leaving them behind to get away I lost a ton of cds I had to replace but by pure luck I still have this single and then I bought come back to what you know & this on vinyl they just had a way of knowing our generation it was the peak of music we knew then we were in history we didn’t realise how big the 90’s would eventually become, as they are classics now but we just knew this was peak of music the best music could ever get that we left nothing behind for other generations to come lol but it’s true music reached its best it was pure 100% talent you had to have a unique voice, you had to have 100% natural talent back in 90’s to me it only feels like 10 yr ago at most not 25 to 30 yrs ago, it was a time where very precious memories were made because of very precious bands like Embrace as said they captured the soul & sound of our generation going out pubbing, going out to clubs and hearing these epic bands on jukebox and singing along to them, what a time it was I can only say thank you to Embrace for a song that got me through a rough time due to bereavement losing a fiancé at too early an age, no one should ever lose a fiancé they lived with in their teens but hey these got me through thank you embrace goosebumps now listening to it as ain’t heard it for very long time, the 90’s greatest decade for music for Britain & world
One of my idols , This song inspired me so much, I don't understand how they never headlined wembley, hey check out songs I wrote and my music vids on my channel if you like this band
Can someone, explain to me the meaning of this song ? The title is kinda ,mean or a little aggressive. So,who is telling this to whom, and more important, why ?
@nutsbof Typing entire sentances in upper case letters really helps to clarifiy the subtle and devastating complexity of your argument with which you have destroyed mine and demonstrated the superiority of your musical knowledge..............................GENIUS - sadly for both you and I, you and I are two of only a few people who have seen this video here.
rastabus...no doubt your concept of singing and music etc is someone from the x-factor...etc. Plastic singing with no character in the voice. I think you'll find that the way the guy from embrace sings is what gives the songs and the music its character. If you don't understand that then I don't know why you are even listneing to this.
What the singer of this band seems to be overlooking is that his fundamental weakness is his inability to sing in spite of his being a singer, and obviously the fact of his being a singer makes it everybody's business, at least those of us unfortunate enough to hear him sing.
