Embraer E-Jet E2 - the second generation of a successful family of regional passenger aircraft, developed by the Brazilian Embraer conglomerate.
The updated family is represented by three models: E175, E190 and E195, which in the names will proudly carry an additional index E2. Aircraft represent a deep modernization of the basic family, with the installation of new engines, avionics and the revision of a number of structural elements.
The project is at the final stage of implementation and the liners already have started to go to the airlines parks.

Flew Finnair's new Embraer 190 (Helsinki to Saint Petersburg) and I must tell I was blown away by the amount of space and comfort in such a small plane. Nice seats, great leg space even for me (6.5 feet) and a pretty spacy lavatory. Absolutely astonishing work from Embraer with the E- Jets in my opinion. If you have the chance to fly on it do it, you won't regret it!

They're practically turboprops with the amount of bypass in those engines! :) 16% fuel savings is really impressive.

That's only half of it, the other bit that makes those engines very interesting is the fact that they're geared ( allowing for different rotational speeds for the bypass and core ) which also brings them closer to turboprops.

your comment is misleading. the engines are only 11% more efficient. The aerodynamic and avionics improvements account for the remaining 5% improvement in efficiency.

My favorite is the ex US Airways E190, American Airlines Mad Dog 80s, and the American Airlines Boeing 757s. I really wanted to fly the Topulev TU-154M, Boeing 747 jumbo jet, Airbus A380 super jumbo, and the 787 dreamliner.

One of the best sum-ups of any of the the big four's new series. Some, (appreciated) Brasil pride is evident. The honesty of the report is frankly unheard of--this video is, unique. Common sense evaluation. And much appreciated. I can see a difficult desicion for JetBlue to replace the expensive E1s--a revolutionary long-range Bombardier CS or a competitive evolutionary medium-range E2. I don't envy JetBlue's bean counters. They're both amazing series. Canada. Brasil. I'm impressed how Embraer did this update at nearly on budget. The capitalist's market will determine the winner. HOPE EMBRAER STAYS FREE. Thank-you for this report. (and some of us are girls, sir! ;)

I flew it, and it is a very nice aircraft. Landing and taking off perfectly in short tracks. I loved the internal comfort and silence in the cabine.

i always enjoy flying in an Embraer..Cosy Comfortable cabin and happy take off and landing..Only took an Embraer flight from Warsaw to Minsk by LOT..Loved it as usual.

Embraer and the aeronautical complex in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brasil, are a kind of brainchilds of ITA (Instituto Tecnológico da Aeronáutica, en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instituto_Tecnológico_de_Aeronáutica) similar to Silicon Valey and Stanford. We are all proud of those guys that with lots of study, focus, strategy and discipline made it all possible in Brazil.

Yeah, but that size is something absurd, like 6 metres across or something. (can't remember the exact amount that research papers were saying about high bypass turbofans) Assuming I'm not massively mis-remembering things, a 6 metre diameter turbofan would be something you'd struggle to fit to an A380, let alone a small, narrow-body jet...

@@frankgaleon5124 Turbofans are really only efficient between a 9:1 and 11.5:1 bypass ratio. Once you go higher than that the engine starts losing power and thrust and they start using more fuel to compensate for the power loss... engines have pretty much reached their limits like Piston engine propellers did in the early 50's. The only area that modern jets can improve in is overall weight, and compression technology.

Outstanding synopsis and history. Another interesting topic to add to the video would be how the issue of scope clause in the United States calls into question how well the new E175 E2 will sell in that market. The new aircraft is too large to be operated by regional airlines under current scope contracts.

This is why they are in no hurry to build the 175-E2. 76 seats and about 86,000 lbs is the limit. Original 175 was re-certified to have a lower MGTW in order to comply with the limits. Beautiful aircraft though. Would love to fly the E2.

Embraer was born at the Brazilian Aeronautical Technology Center (CTA), a laboratory of the Aeronautical Institute of Technology (ITA). Even today, the ITA university degree in engineering is the hardest to obtain in the country. Embraer was born state-owned and was privatized in 1992.

Very god video as usual and awsome airplanes! Embraer's E2's are truly awsome airplanes! And I think Embraer was very clever not to go full head on against the 180+ seat airplanes from Airbus and Boeing ... that market together with the upcoming Russian made and Chinese made airplanes will be very crowded in the future.
