This video is an excerpt from “General Motors Locomotives - Manufacture to Mainline”, a documentary by Green Frog Productions and Canrail Video Productions:

12:24 Well I’ll be. An Amtrak SDP40F (The first one built [Number 500]) in Phase 2, pulling a passenger train (Likely the Southwest Limited [Renamed the Southwest Chief in 1984]) with an F40 also in Phase 2 providing head end power to the cars. Awesome catch!

12:24 It's rare to see SDP40F in that shot that clear. Most of the time it be a silenced 8mm film with artificial sound or sound that muffled do of aged.

Sure was really nice to seen some falling flag railroads it's also very SAD too many railroads have been sold off and destroyed by the railroads that bought them.

Huh interesting There must be some library of train footage from Canada that production companies can licenese out to use in their own documentaries This one was produced by Green Frog + Canrail Video, but the Prairie Rails one is produced by Greg Scholl + Rail Innovations

Sorry BUT I don't give a DAMN what people might say EMD Engines are Thee BEST Engine ever made period. They look sound and pull the best they have LESS problems than the GE Engines have that's FACT. Yes some of the GE Engines do ride smoother but that's it after a GE Engines get some mileage on them they SMOKE terrible. GE Engines are JUNK!!!

If it hadn't been for the SDP40F's alleged faults, the F40PH might never have been produced. That would be incredibly sad.
