I met Emeli at her concert at Leeds O2 in 2017, after 4 years of loving her music all the way from my side of the world in the United Arab Emirates. I asked her if we could sing the first two lines of the song and she obliged. I had cried to this performance every time I had watched it before. Our meeting was everything I could have wished for and more. What an incredible talent and an even more incredible individual!

The first few dozen times I heard this song was Sam Bailey from X factor. I thought it was about a man and a woman but on her official video she explains it was about when she was just starting out and trying to get signed and everyone wanted control over what she did. Luckily for us, she won. Beautiful song.

Being a Mongolian teenager in Singapore, I almost signed my soul away. My father stopped me and I hated him for a short period afterwards.
