Due to our publisher demanding the release of this mod in time for the holidays, the second half of the level did not receive proper development time to be fully polished. We hope you understand and can look past these flaws.
The joke is that the entire second half of the level wasn't finished in order to get the video out sooner. Then again, this is Sonic 06 so those dolphins could just be there for no reason.
Imagine if we got this instead of 06 in November of 2006. "Remake of Sonic Adventure using cutting edge technology" and this was the end result. People would've gone even more apeshit that when 06 was released!
I think he's implying that if they announced an HD remake of Sonic Adventure and then screwed it up like '06, people would freak out about it more than if it was just '06.
He also missed the 1up behind the first hill and the 3 ring monitors behind the tall hill. Granted, he may not have even put them in since this video is one big joke.
@@yaboisanic2922 LOL I bet thats a taco bell add I mean they do have Mountain Dew, An Egg and Cheese Burrito, and Dorito's... Wait a minute... THAT'S BURRITO BELL!!!! SON OF A BITCH, THEY SCAMMED ME!!!
SADX HD remake. This is very fitting since 06 was the last adventure styled game and had many elements from both games. You increased the running speed and removed the other run animation, right ? I think it's a bit unfitting but that's probably only because of the way 06's acceleration and animations work.(Sonic looks sightly too fast and the run animation looks jumpy/chopped, but that might be just me), great job.
Sonic Warrior But it focuses too much on boosting and "perfection for bragging rights", not enough love for platforming. I know the Werehog thing is hated by many, but seriously, I don't find that an issue in Sonic Boom.
This whole stage is basically an analogy for Sonic '06, destined for greatness but because the designer wanted to release it in time for the Christmas it was released unfinished.
I'm not sure what to say or think. Is this an improvement? A downgrade? Was the level really this automated, or does it just seem that way because 06 and too much dash pads? Is there less glitches here than in the original? Is Sonic running faster than 06? One thing's for certain, though - I'm still waiting for 06 levels to be ported into Adventure 2.
RemixerUltimate _Parts_ of it were, yeah, but Emerald Coast has points where you can stop and look around for stuff. Melpontro put in even more dashpads than the original had. It _is_ probably the most "automated" of the SA1 levels though.
Sonic Adventure as we truly imagined it... somehow even glitchier than the (fun) original. Y'know, I was wondering if, at the transition point, you'd put in a loading screen; and lo you did not disappoint. Also, at 2:30 random dolphin flying through the sky what. Also-also, I still agree with Clement's assertion that '06 _should_ have been called _Sonic Adventure 3_, because, like it or not, its gameplay most closely matches that series. Only less good.
Amazing work. My question is: how tedious is the process of adding mods to the actual game? Since it's on a console I imagine that it'd be a bit tedious to reload everything whenever you want to see what something looks like.
Wow this is really interesting. Too bad I wouldn't be able to play it since modding an xbox 360 isn't as easy as installing the homebrew channel and using riivolution on a wii :/
Not bad! It does have too much "always going forward", but it's a concept I've always wondered about. I was fond of Sonic 06 ideas, and there's some things even about it in its current state I like. This was kind of neat.
Damn, in terms of lighting and shading, this game was pretty ahead of it's time. Not only are there a lot of high resolution realtime shadows, but also what looks like some form of PBR shading and Global Illumination. If only the game itself wasn't ass.
+BlackKnightKomms Both versions run at an inconsistent 60FPS. The PS3 version suffers more framerate drops/slowdown than the 360 version, and the in-game cutscenes only run at 30FPS on PS3.
I think 06 was the end of the adventure era, because it played like adventure, and after it Sonic Rush came out and introduced the boost gameplay which is what is now used for modern sonic.
Ahh this is an extremely great port :) The sand is the main thing that bothers me, it's too bright, but other than that it looks pretty nice. Maybe if you can, you could edit the water too? I dunno, I really like it though :)
Actually, just remaking Emerald Coast in 06's engine like this, but with more tweaks to the level to make it work more smoothly with the engine, would've been much better than building a level from scratch, although I do think the way that each character's section is all contained in one level is a pretty genius way to save memory on a disk.
Description: "Due to our publisher demanding the release of this mod in time for the holidays, the second half of the level did not receive proper development time to be fully polished. We hope you understand and can look past these flaws." Exactly what SEGA said to themselves after releasing Sonic '06
THIS is what they should have done for '06. Even the physics seem more manageable in this sort of environment. Think about it, DX controls were not that smooth from what I can remember. Sonic was somewhat jerky, like in '06. It sort of fits somehow. Also, fucking lost it at Taco Bell.
Isn't it ironic to say that this second half of the mod stage was to be released by the holidays just like Sonic 06 was rushed to be have a holiday release?
How are you getting the 60fps gameplay? I know youtube supports the format, but I never get 60fps on the PS3 version, I know the 360 version performs far better than the ps3 version, but I didn't know it ran that smooth! Unless there's something your not telling us, Mel?
MotionTransformer Sonic 06 runs at 60fps with frequent frame drops. I would know: I did 3 different let's plays that were all in 720p60. Only problem is that the game runs like ass.
MotionTransformer I never had that many framerate problems with the PS3 version (not that I noticed, though). I haven't played the 360 version, though, so I can't compare them.
LucasMadword The 360 version has its primary performance increase with cutscenes. On the PS3 the cutscenes either lag, or lock, at a low framerate, whereas on the 360 the cutscenes actually run at 60fps and its a real spinout when you go from so many years on the PS3 one to the 360 one. The 360 version is surprisingly improved in the performance area. If you have a 360, I HIGHLY recommend you buy or hire the game to see for yourself, the load times are somewhat better too.
