FYI :NOTE: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will cause the water container to degrade and become brittle, increasing the chance of leaks. It is highly recommended to store water containers in cool shaded areas.
DRY STORAGE PROBLEM: I just pulled out two containers I had empty for about 5 years in a well vented outdoor storage shed. I was thinking of making a sand filter and perhaps using these two water containers as standby storage. The cap and the vent had degraded such that they were dry and brittle. The blue body was still looking okay. These were not exposed to any sun. I just looked on Amazon and found replacement caps and vents, two for $15 plus shipping. Is it worth fixing? I decided yes since to replace the two would be over $30 plus. There are better made ones out there but much more expensive. Perhaps, if I had water in them they wouldn't have dried up.....??
Mine was worth fixing, too. Ordered the replacement parts thru Walmart, if memory serves. FWIW... Some plastics just don't last as long as others with identical storage conditions. Ice chests are an example. I keep several in the same place. Over the years various things have failed, from hinges breaking to splits in the exterior side wall. A length of aluminum duct tape or a hinge replacement kit usually much more cost effective than buying another cooler.
I like these sturdy containers, my only real concern/issue is the design around the cap spigot setup. When you use the spigot, you remove the sticker and then nothing to keep dirt, bugs, germs from getting inside the faucet. Needs some kind of temp cap setup.
Leave the spigot attached. Storing the spigot inside the container during warehousing, shipping and customers bringing them home is ideal for preventing damage. Can't speak for anyone else. Personally, I don't return the spot to "storage". There's no need, if I handle them correctly. I don't worry about the spigots on other water storage containers that I use both at home and when camping. Same premise with gasoline containers. I never reverse the spout back into the storage position (if it was sold that way.)
I suppose actually filling this with water and letting viewers see that process as well as the spigot operation with flow of water would have been entirely too much trouble for a RU-vid review of a product. This should be titled an "Unboxing" of this product, not a review...you didn't show how it works for heaven's sake.
use bleach to clean. not too much...........lose the blown out white in the background...... maybe actually try to install the spigot into the container to show everyone how to do it????
I like the suggestion to rinse it out with soap...but you say nothing about the spigot or any other features. Cant really review this product when all you've done is store water in it.
