Wow I'm suprised the black is coming off so easily without taking the paint under it too... must not have been a great paint job lol. If it were mind I'd definitely just strip it and restore it completely... Original is cool, but with that much paint loss and this thing being such a rare piece I'd say it deserves a complete repaint. Just my 2 cents...
Yeah I may go that route. I realize this is kind a futile thing. But we’ll see. Yeah you have to be very precise and quick with the acetone. I switched to half-and-half acetone and a high-end automotive degreaser. I’ve got. I wish I would’ve gone that route right away because it’s doing a better job at not eating into the ivory like the straight acetone was. I should’ve known better, but I was kind of getting to the point where I just figured it was a last ditch effort That there’s a good chance I end up stripping it and painting it anyway so I figured what the hell I’m breaking out the acetone
