Greg said he came up with the idea for the song when he was walking his dog. He was suffering from writers block and took his dog for a walk near a pond where he lived. He tossed a rock into the pond and noticed the ripples and the idea came to him from doing that.

Thank you, Lulu & Donna for this reaction. About the belt that Emerson wears, he wore it because in a certain part of the show, he had daggers on it. He used those daggers to stick them between the keys of a Hammond organ (not seen in this video) to keep some keys activated and produce some sounds.

The thing with the black keys and flat white keys was called a Clavinet. There are so many tunes in this brilliant song.

Love this progressive rock supergroup from the 70's. They had a unique sound that included classical music with jazz & symphonic rock elements. Also loved their use of the Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer & piano. Their sound is like no other band. They had a lot of great songs such as "Lucky Man", "From The Beginning", "Jerusalem", "The Barbarian", "Tarkus", “Still… You Turn Me On”, "Hoedown" etc. One of my favorite songs by them is "Fanfare For The Common Man" - Live at Olympic Stadium, Montreal in 1977. Sadly both Keith Emerson & Greg Lake died in 2016, leaving only Carl Palmer.

He was playing Piano, Clavinet, and every so often he would reach into the piano and strum the strings inside.

Loved this video and your reactions to Emerson Lake and Palmer. I saw them live 37 times and they were amazing and still some of the best concerts I have ever seen. Please do more reactions to their music. Fanfare for the Common Man would be great to do next. Love you guys!

They just had a little fun with this one in concert tours. People say they were too serious and pretentious, but they knew how to have fun too. Three extraordinary talents.

It was the old Jazz aficionados that called them "pretentious." They couldn't get away with saying these guys weren't among the very best musicians on the planet, but ELP weren't playing the same old kind of crap those aficionados considered "good."

Emerson Lake And Palmer | Take A Pebble!!! Over 10 minutes I didn't think you would get to do it. It is absolutely beautiful. If you get a chance listen to the studio version while you are laid back with eyes closed. It doesn't have all of the antics. Just beautiful piano and guitar. The version from the "Beat Club" is more "Laid Back"

Take A Pebble ...Keith Emerson... Classically trained pianist by age 14 when he got interested in Jazz organ and anything else with keyboards. This is early ELP. That wasn't an organ. I was a Calvinet. He does have a Hammond organ at this concert but it is off to his left with the 1968 Moog synthesizer keyboard on top. Then he has another small C100 Hammond organ that everybody knows that an ELP concert is not over until he abuses it . I sent you a video months ago from 2 decades later that has a bigger set up with multiple keys boards and ends with him throwing his C100 on it's back. ... Emerson Lake and Palmer - Fanfare For The Common Man (Finale Live Royal Albert Hall 1992) it is 14 minutes.... Open jacket with no shirt and as Donna knows from the Jam video he plays opposing keyboards with his arms straight out opposite. Better than the "V" you ladies were talking about in the Heart video.

The organ is a keyboard same as a piano and a synthesiser keyboard. The accordion has buttons and a keyboard too, but it is upright. If you are proficient one one type of keyboard, you should be able to play any keyboard.
@chrisg6086
@chrisg6086 Месяц назад
I guess you're not a keyboard player.... Do you understand the difference in action, between a concert grand and a Hammond?
@bobby666666
@bobby666666 Месяц назад
@@chrisg6086 No I'm not a keyboard player yes I understand a piano is more complex. The point I was making was you can play rudimentary on a piano if you are able to play another keyboard. If you can play rudimentary on a piano, you can get more involved with the complexity of the piano.
@chrisg6086
@chrisg6086 Месяц назад
@@bobby666666 it's not that a piano is more complex, rather that the action varies so enormously, even between a synthesiser and a Hammond, making them totally different to play. The electronic instruments have their own complexity too, from organ stops through to oscillator settings. You'd think a piano accordion might be easy too, but the keys tend to be physically smaller, making finger placement less instinctive
@dggydddy59
@dggydddy59 27 дней назад
@bobby666666 That guy is just nitpicking at you, like it seems everybody just HAS to do, for no reason. Anyway, I AM a keyboard and guitar player and you are essentially correct that if you understand the keys on a piano then you understand them on an organ, an accordion, and a synthesizer. It's not like the difference between a guitar and a mandolin and banjo and a violin, which are all very quite distinctly different instruments in a lot of ways.

I really like your channel. You girls are so sweet❤ If you want to hear some awesome female rock goddess royalty 😮 Check out "Cook With Fire". This song is on the Dog and Butterfly LP by Heart. Don't do the Live version... it's terrible. Also, "Sing Child" is awesome. I could list 57 more by "Heart" that are great. Anything on their albums "Dog and Butterfly" or "Little Queen" or "Dreamboat Annie" are so good. Put these on your short list, ladies. You're welcome❤😅❤❤❤

That was a clavinet, not organ. Organs etc have a different discipline but I would say piano is harder because you control more. Play keys hard on a piano and it’s loud, play soft and it’s soft. Organ keys are like switches, no mater how hard or soft you play, the sound is the same. I'd suggest Pirates by ELP to listen to.
