Emerson, Lake & Powell - 9/20/86 Madison Square Garden (video) 

STILL - the loudest show I have EVER been to... my ears rang for a week after... epic. Many doobies passed around that night :) RIP to all three of them... glad to have had the fortune to spend this evening with you.

I was there for that. The Garden wasn't sold out at all. The top tier was no one, next level down was half filled. Unbelievable. I thought for sure they'd have sold out. I saw them quite a few times there throughout the years from 1972 forward. Cozy is definitely a different Drummer. I'll always take Palmer though. Just my opinion. Seems Keith and Greg got to let loose a different side. Great show. Had to be there.

8th row, l remember it so well. My lovely girlfriend and now wife were in the 8 row center, She turned to me in awe and was literally blown away by the sound and vision. She really loved Cozy and yes she still loves Carl… Rip Emerson, Lake & Powell

I was on the floor, row 11 seat f. An awesome show. Had six friends with me too, four of them said it was the best show they've ever seen.

I literally screamed when this came up on my YT suggestions. Greg’s voice was 🔥 on this night. Cozy was great and of course Keith is a genius. RIP, ELPo.

Now we're talking! There has to be more quality videos out there! Maybe we need to use the Freedom of Information Act to have ABC release the full ELP concert from the CA Jam!

Damn the Lads were thundering on this tour! I saw them in Los Angeles as far as I know this is the only large arena they played on this tour. The rest of the country was like 5000 seaters. NYC always had mad love for them!

Oh, and i was the first person on line to purchase tickets for this show. I started the line about 1pm the day before the tickets went on sale. I "slept" overnight on the line and was escorted along with the next two people to the ticket window in the morning before they let anyone else in to the ticket window. During Mars, they did not do the pyrotechnics as they had done a week earlier at the Brendan Byrne arena. i guess they could not get approval from FDNY approval or whatever agency oversees the safety.

I was at this show and this was the best concert of all that I've seen. 17 years old and just got into ELP. ELPowell was a great band and this was a magical night! so great to see them on this tour during all the metal of the 80s and this is great footage of the entire show. emerson is pumped to go at 5:58!

Speechless, amazing show!!! This trio deserved another chance. Cozy was a powerful drummer... I am not being disrespectful with Carl Palmer, but I've always loved Cozy Powell much better. Incredible drummer!!!

I saw them in Detroit. The difference in Powell's solo is it's mostly special effects and lights. Carl Palmer was pure talent.,

Saw this tour in Glens Falls , upstate N.Y. My wife at the time was 8 months pregnant and the baby was kicking all during the concert

Yeah this is definitely my video. The shaky camera leading up to the cut at approx. 3:44 went like this: There were 5-6 people sitting behind us who, before the show started pleading with me for a copy as soon as they saw me pull out the camera . I agreed to exchange info after the show. A group of security people bum rushed us right where you see the camera get shaky and these great folks sitting behind us basically blocked them and told them to get the fuck outta here with threats of violence. And security backed off! Thanks guys! The Dietmar I traded with is the guy that discovered the Genesis Lamb '75 "Treff Punkte" footage. Is this the Dietmar you got this from?

Are you sure this is MSG? I haven't watched the entire video but this looks like what I filmed in Worcester Mass that year. Also I traded with a Dietmar in Germany at that time. This is definitely filmed from exactly where we were sitting too. Interesting because I lost my master years ago. Thanks!

I wish there was video from ELP's best years, 1971-74. This show doesn't hold a candle to ELP's Brain Salad Surgery shows. Poor management made poor decisions. It is a travesty that the BSS Christmas shows at MSG December 17 & 18 were not documented...poor management, poor decisions...period

If ELP continues this project Will be Nice, It Better than W2, Love Beach !!
