I totally enjoyed this movie, I still think to this day it was great. Plus the soundtrack was a nice bonus, loved all those tracks. This one is amazing
same. When this movie came out, me and my friend saw it, there was some theater manager that warned us not too watch it because he said the movie was pretty bad. We still watched it anyways. Boy was he wrong, this movie was pure spine chilling entertainment with many incredible scenes. Colin Farrell and Jamie Fox did an amazing job in this film. Plot was well executed, Story line was terrific, action, mobster dealings, thrills, drama. everything was THERE such an underrated movie. .
Sadly, Miami Vice was 1of those gems that slipped through my viewing fingers buttttt I'm finally watching it now on HBO while ill, in bed & had to pause it so I could aak Google "WHAT AM I LISTENING TO?", because THIS SONG gave me the CHILLS... its muy caliente 👍👍💜💥💥💥
I remember watching the trailer on theater before the movie started, so old school vibe, there was no social media, no youtube, internet was far away to be massive, the the trailer, his music, the editing surprise me af and gave so much hype. Finally I watched on cinema, never regret do that!
Didn't watch this movie, when it first came out, because many people said it was bad.. man were they wrong! Watched it two years ago and loved it! Amazing action and a great love story!
Audiences simply were not ready for this movie in 2006 what they expected and what they got were completely two different things. Audiences at the time expected Crockett And Tubbs to drop one liners and wisecracks in between gunfights and expected something closer in tone to the TV series even though the TV show had its dark moments. What we got was a brooding dread filled, Noir masterpiece from Michael Mann, were identity was sometimes blurred due to the undercover work especially in Crockett's case. Crockett walked around with a weight that hung over him that was palpable, and the only time it was lifted was when he was his undercover alias "Sonny" and with Isabella. A brilliantly brooding, intense, twitchy and slightly sad eyed reflective performance from Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx is also fantastic as Tubbs. And another thing we got a love story that was fleeting amongst all the tension filled set pieces that was never going to last ( Time Is Luck). We live in a time were Super hero movies make up most of the summer releases but my goodness a major studio wouldn't have the balls to release a Movie like Miami Vice 06 in these current times. It would be too risky now glad we got this gem in 2006 the last moments between Isabella and Crockett scored to Auto-Rock seriously makes you stop and think about those final moments you had with a special person before it was time to say goodbye forever. How many summer tent pole movies nowadays do that "none" glad this movie is finally getting the recognition it deserved all the way back in 2006 it has aged beautifully...........
This was such a bad ass movie. Not sure why everyone always rates it so bad. I thought everything...story line, acting, special effects, were all top notch and theres so much feeling involved in a lot of the situations they're in. It's awesome!
The Club scene with them both dancing and José Yero observing was so intense. Especially with this catchy tune. One of my most favourite movie scenes of all times :) 5/5* & faved. Thanks for uploading :)
Honestly both scenes with Sonny and Isabella dancing are THE reason cinema was invented, I'm torn between which I love more. "Do you dance?" "I dance."
Garrett Zavaglia agreed, it is underrated, unfortunately it didn't do well in the box office cashing out at $163.8 mln while the budget was at $135mln.
I watched this again a few weeks back n it was also on last night but i missed it 😡 1 of the most underrated movies ever i don't know how it doesn't get the credit its due, from the cast to the soundtrack absolutely love it!
Absolutely unbelievable to see so many people saying this movie was good. I saw it when it first came out at the theatres- in fact, I saw it twice. This movie is a Masterpiece. The soundtrack, actors, and direction. Sadly, Nobody ever agrees with my analysis.
i totally agree...its a movie that you don't see actors acting...is like a documentary from real life ..the music is awesome .. one under rated movie ! i watch this movie 2-3 times a year .. never bored .
Same here. I see it once every 8 months or so. It's just not possible for this movie to get old. I will toast to you tonight as I meet the girls at the club.
Same here guys saaame here!! Miami Vice Rocks...period! It's just one of thoose movies that you see over and over again and u still watch it like it was the 1s time, with the same feelings u get when watching for the 1st time. It's one of thoose few rare movies that transited very well from the tv to the big screen . It's a Michael Mann movie and it's all that it takes :-)
Amazing song, soundtrack, and movie at that. it's amazing how this movie splits everyone in 2 & thats usually because something of this magnitude has that effect where it leaves no middle ground 2 stand on kind of like the truth. I mean the cinematagraphy was just phenominal, the casting just amazing, the story line just very enriched. Not 2 mention the forbiden love affair between Collin Ferral and his mistress. The passions and desires of this movie where of the chart & where masterfuly conveyed.
I think the best thing about the scene where this song plays is John Ortiz' acting, you can really see/feel how it hurts him to watch them dance so intimately.
I've seen this movie plenty of times, and I've always pointed that out to people! The heartbroken expression on his face makes this scenes even more powerful.
They have copied a real Life "live" affair that I had one time...with a drug dealer bad guy....it would have been maybe fun with Colin Farrell? but..malaise it was just more porn to me and a set up. I hate and despise the real life guy who was older than me..a RAPIST. I only will have a right relationship between us, if with Colin F. ....fairytale marriage or NOTHING, AGAINST him.
Hey. If you are still looking for the name of that song.. it is "Sinnerman" (Felix Da Housecat Remix).. this song really caught my attention as well...
"We stood like two trees beside, intertwined into one. And when the winds blew against us, we would laugh at it, as leaves clapping hands to our strength. Always day. We had all the stars, but no sky to hang them onto. We were brave, but not strong. Bare, but not skeleton. We had song, but no dance. Time slipped as a blessed curse. We knew the pennies were slipping from our pockets, and we left them there on the ground as worthless cents. In wordless sense, we finally found our darkness, but the stars had all faded by then."
I am a big Miami vice Fan and i thought they cant reach the Thrill of the original but as i saw the movie on DVD i was so pissed i didnt see it in cinema XD great sond 5/%*
Nothing but pennies in my pocket Nothing but faith to keep me warm Look into the heart and not the pocket What he give for your love Slip your pennies in my pocket Let me show cook on the stove Look into the heart and not the pocket What he give for your love Nothing but pennies in my pocket Look into the heart and not the pocket Slip your pennies in my pocket Look into the heart and not the pocket Nothing but pennies in my pocket Slip your pennies in my pocket
critics weren't kind to this film for the acting and story but I don't really care the style, music, and camera work makes it just ooooze such cool and sexy mood hate all the acting criticism it received... Foxx was solid, not as dynamic as Collateral but solid given his role as a partner. and while it wasn't a great performance by Farrell in many scenes, him and Li just ooooozed sexual tension -- loved them together.
Didn't realize the original wasn't just a male version of the Mandy song lol. I mean, the Mandy song isn't even the same song, it's a song that Emilio seemingly wrote a new song over his own song. Very cool that he was able to make one of the best pop songs of all time out of this.
thanks for this comment, I searched for 'original' song. The facts are, Mandy Moore sang this in 2001, version from the movie was released when the movie (2006) however both versions could've been made same time. Anyways, there is the same producer of both songs which is Emilio Estefan (and Randall Barrow), so, as you wrote, the new song was written over old version. Sorry for chaos
@Maladomina I hated this movie the first time I saw it, then I got it on DVD (don't ask me why...) and now I like it more each time I watch it. In fact this scene's one of my favourites, with Yero on the verge of tears as this song plays, it's brilliant.
John Ortiz genuinely scared me in this scene. That shot of him just watching them dance, you know he already has in his head their going to be killed by his actions. The Counselor and Sicario are similarly good movies.
I heard they might make a sequel but no talks yet plus that movie came out in 2006 ! The part at the end when she wakes up in the hospital I thought was an indicator
Just rewatched this movie...the seen was Uber intense Jose Yero was so into her.......his eyes filled up with tears while watching them dance...... very deep
Drum loop made me think of Shakira's Whenever, wherever. And after a bit of Google research I found out that Emilio Estefan wrote the percussion/drums for that song. :)
It's actually an arabesque beat, Arab music historically lingered on in Spanish and Latin music even to this day. The strings are remiencient of 90s Arab pop as well
"Nothing but pennies in my pocket. Nothing but faith to keep me warm" You need to check Mandy Moore's version also: "In my Pocket" I'm crazy for both version! Cheers.
Love this song and that particular scene in the movie, their dancing was intense and convincing. Only bad thing about the movie is that it was far too fast paced.
