Eminem was a team effort. Em was a great rapper but needed someone to sign him in order to get famous. From there then, em could make 50 cent famous and produce a whole post humous tupac album that no one had heard before. it was like a chain reaction. and im glad dre decided to sign him
dre wouldnt be who he is if it wasnt for em, em wouldnt be who he is without dre... they made each other! they wouldnt be shit without each other. u can have a mad beat but you need a melody and no melody is enough without a dope beat
Only today it takes 6 reaction videos, 66 podcasts and 6 months to understand half of his album and by the time we understand half of his album he comes up with a reply to all the stupid people who can`t understand his metaphors :D :D
@@armind3870 funny thing about it is its actually true. there are a few phrases from em that i only discovered years later through some documentary or some lyric breakdown video
Dr Dre is a legend for letting EM be himself on those hit records. He didn't try to make him something he's not. He basically provided sick beats and knew Eminem was good enough to just take them and run with them.
My favorite part of this story.....Eminem CALLED the restaurant that he worked at to tell them he couldn't come in to work anymore. People usually just bail without notice. What. a. gem.
I would like to do that to my no paying job right now but I'm stuck in a dead end no paying job that takes all my income to keep a roof in South MN & don't see no financial increase in my future
Laura Tanner Eminem:yeah *calls work* im not coming into work anymore *Months to a year later becomes a sold out international worldwide global rap star legend.....*
DMC "He is Eminem, he is a superstar, he is controversy, he is a celebrity, he is a white boy from Detroit that raps but all he really is that made him so successful he's HIP HOP." True Words🔥🔥
@@Desertpunk1986 First people grasp the truth that he has changed. Well if he has changed, don't expect to see the same old em today. You understand? If not then the thing wen right over your head.
Let's get a few things straight. 1 Lord Jamar is an OG and Brand Nubian was one of the groups that ushered in anything we enjoy today so show some respect people. 2 LJ said specifically that he knows Eminem is a better rapper, that he just doesn't rap about things that speak to him so he doesn't feel him. I also feel that way. I have no idea about some of the things he speaks to. But he is most skilled, and I take time to enjoy Eminem's lyrical prowess. Everyone can have an opinion. 3. For those Lord Jamar haters, he dropped off so to speak because he went into tv and film and to this day has a decent career. He just stays out of the limelight, which you are suppose to do at his age. As Eminem gets older you are also going to see him disappear as his deals and projects make him more invisible. These guys sacrifice so much. can we not just enjoy their work and move on? Stop hating everybody.
"He's Eminem. He's a superstar. he's controversial. He's a celebrity. He's a WHITE BOY FROM DETROIT THAT RAPS... But all he really is that makes him successful? He's Hiphop." -DMC Fucking well said! Hiphop has no race. Hiphop is colorblind.
Em and Dre were perfect for each other. Perfect timing. Dre was struggling with his producing, and Em needed help to get to the next level. Great combo.
I love Eminem, he is a mastery of skill, drive and and a fantastic, mind bending vocabulary! I also use to live off 8 mile, and Dequindre! I know how gritty Warren, MI can be. I admire that he has stayed in MI, they need him. Even though it’s f#*king freezing there. I’m in a warmer state. My bff her aunt changed his clothes and babysat him when he was a baby. It wasn’t in Michigan I agree, he needed Dre, it was a time in both their lives when they needed each other. Thank god!!!!
EM and Dre saved each other. Interscope wanted Dre off the label after his Aftermath album bombed. But Jimmy Iovine loved Dre and told them if they dropped Dre he they might as well drop him too. Even Jimmy Iovine didn't get Eminem but Dre saw what EM was and what he was capable
Max Towers yo bro I'm a dude from Australia who came up with Ice T and grew with TuPac and Eminem str8 Rocks but who is this machine gun Kelly bitch.P.s B
when em said every rapper has to have his own identity he was spot on. rappers back in the day all sounded different and thats what made rap great. now you have all these mumble rappers who all sound the same, use the same flow and beats and can't really tell them apart. But at least there are a few real rappers left out there trying to keep rap alive
Eminem is incredible, he is so talented, BUT what sets him apart significantly, is the way he sais his words, and MOST importantly, The sound of Eminem's Voice. Its so unique and its PERFECT.
@ТЬМА "isn't about music or being a musician, it's just messages sent" I'm dumbfounded by your lack of braincells. If it's not about being a musician, then what the hell is it? Being the laughing stock of the internet? If so, goal accomplished. And what would be the message? Smoke, do drugs, get fcked up like me? Cuz that's a shitty message to send to kids. Cuz let's be honest, no grown ass person thinks this stuff is good. Your comment is just contradiction, g.
Anybody who's seen/heard John Mulaney's New In Town will laugh at this comment. "Or like when someone smokes too many cigarettes, Or like when someone shops too much with credit cards, Or like when someone plays too many scratchy lotteries, Or like when someone eats too much chocolate cake..." Executive Producer - Dick Wolf
Dr. Dre doesn't get enough credit in a pure music sense for how he was able to produce Eminem with a completely new sound. Listen to the beat to My name is for example and a bunch of the other beats on the Slim Shady LP, they have that drug-induced, sometimes Horrorcore, or downright comedic sound that fit Eminem like a glove. And yes, I know that Dre didn't make all the beats but he oversaw the production of the albums and the general sound.
This footage looks like its from 2001. Man Eminem was almost always on drugs and alcohol in his slim shady days. Thats what made him slim shady until he became sober. Hence why he's the man he is today. Much respect.
BorgesProduction it’s not 01, 50 was their so it must have at least been 03. Even though 50 was signed in 02 he wasn’t mainstream till 03 so it must at least been then
The notion that Eminem was high as fuck all the time back in the day needs to be put to rest. 50 Cent even spoke on it in an interview, how Eminem never really did drugs while writing, most of the time it was on tours. His heavy pill usage didn't start until after 8 Mile came out, probably even after The Eminem Show, but definitely before Encore.
@@theepowerful he said it got much worse because of the stress of the movie production and he started getting a heavy addiction because he was always on drugs on set.
Alef It's not crazy. It's been 16 years. Of course it's almost a different person, nobody's the same even after one year. Not to mention having to learn how to live sober after downing bottles after bottles of Valium.
Eminem spoke alot of shit I could relate to an I am Hispanic so color wasn't shit to me he is one of the few who can truly make your picture shit an can right any song an freestyle, weather its a sad song or motivation or any subject he can touch on it.
Same. I disagree with Ice T saying he was bringing white topics into rap. Broken single parent households, poverty, drug abuse, violence, failed relationships, the death of close friends, all of that sounds relatable as fuck to black and brown people. You'd sound ridiculous if you said that Eminem really didnt live the same life as many of us did.
lilahdog 568 Maybe not “white” topics, but it’s more from a “white” point of view. Also, you never really heard any rapper go after their own family like Em has. Especially his mom. Many rappers at least respected one of their parents.
& dude still had enough courtesy to call his job & let them know that he wasn't coming back. I'd probably forget about that if I just met Dre & started recording with him.
My friends thought he was gonna be a one hit wonder after he dropped My Name Is. I bet them all ten bucks each he was gonna last and that first song just speaks to his genius. They all still owe me till this day. I knew as soon as I heard him he was out of here. My kids are now 16, Em came out when I was 18 and they weren't even a thought yet. I just told them this story of me first hearing Em because they asked me. I will never forget driving around in my little Honda hatchback telling everyone in the car to shut up so I can hear this new song from someone named M&M. Lol, that is how I pictured his name when I first heard the radio dj saying it. I had to go home and watch MTV daily until they finally played the video.
Em is legendary for his many wins in the rap Olympics prior to being a Aftermath artist as well as how he kept evolving from Infinite all the way to MMLP2 and Revival I am not sure how well that cd will do but even if it flops it does not matter because Em made his mark years ago
No matter what you say about Eminem he is a dope artist that knows how to put words together and has out sold every artist in hip hop. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017.
Some of them hate rap in general, others are certain black folks who are still angry more than 20 years later that a white man not only became a rapper, but became one of the best and became respected by his peers. He also sold millions worldwide and brought rap music to people who never heard it before. They're scared that a light skinned person will introduce the music of a group of darker skinned ppl to other kinds of ppl
I loved DMC when he rapped, the echos made it sound so good. One of the first rap albums I truly loved. I mean I listened to Fat Boys, UTFO, Kool Moe Dee, this and that, but when Runs House came out I was playing that 24x7. If not for RUN DMC, who knows if rap would even exist today.
Giving rep from Michigan. Em I feel ya. Your shit hits hard and personal alot of the times. Glad to see you made a living from it all! And was able to spread the songs you did!
I love the bond he have with the people of different skin color and how much they love him.It really makes me happy.I wish to see this bond among all people.
Im going to miss that part of Eminem. With Proof died, em change alot. He became serious and mature. Whens the last time em laugh and smile like he did when he is around proof. RIP Proof
7:02 "we did four songs and three went on the album" the song that did not make the album was "Demon Inside" !!! check it out if you've never heard it, although it got leaked in 1998.. 1:50 Yo!! dat neck swift is tight xD dope azfuk
To have a member from run dmc say that eminem is hiphop must have been the greatest honor ever! I knowi would be sohonored to hear that! Eminem for life!
I remember watching this on tv years ago and related so much to it. It was never me TRYING to be black it was me only being able to relate to the struggle.
@@catastrophucked with the old jokes? Or with boasting about how well he dress? Or complimenting the person you making the diss track about in the diss track? I bet you think the "beard is weird" line is the greatest ever huh?
Wow...hemos crecido con su musica...i ahora me acuerdo cuando estava escuchando con los chicos sus canciones...nosotros teniamos 7 or 8 años...cherss from spain...😉...peace...✌
He's not just fast, he has an incredible vocabulary and constantly slips in double entendre's that you have to go back and catch cause you missed them the first time or two because they were so slick. And then he writes about things so raw and emotional, that he gets the listener invested emotionally into the song.
When the whole slim shady came out I thought of him as a goofy white boy gimmick lick Vanilla Ice was. Fast forward when my 19 year old son discovered him, he made me listen to his new stuff. I've been hooked ever since. I'm a fan of Eminem.
His success was a combination of his drive and meeting the right people. Meeting the right people was also a result of his drive. He is a great lyricist and knows what his audience wants. Anyone with the right talent can succeed, he is just more talented than most of us. That is a hard pill to swallow for most people, most people like to think they are the best, but the truth is that most people are not. By definition
