Relapse aged well imo. The beats are so unique, it sounds likes nothing you've heard from dre or around that time period late 2000s, and they still holds up.. Sucks that Em thinks it's trash. His flows and rhymimg were insane.
He's just tryna keep his major fanbase. He thinks it's dope but the majority wasn't having it so he had to conform to the shit he hated the most and openly dissed at the peak of his career (mmlp)

As an artist a person is always evolving because they put whom they were on record. Once you've released all of your past recent experiences into you art, you in a sense start over.
They're all just uncomfortable with his subject matter his wordplay on relapse makes it one of his best albums for sure its almost my personal favorite of them all
I heard people saying it had all the vile nasty shit about shady with no subtelty, joke, or veneer a cool. To that i say fuck that bullshit this is a classic hip hop horrocore album to those that hate it cuz an accent he sounds different cuz he isnt on drugs i didnt even hear an accent.
Yeah I never understood what people were talking about with the accent. Always sounded the same to me....😕 I always liked this album a lot though. Even when everyone was talking mad shit about it haha
@@Dundizzy I am just blown away by the penmanship of this album. I don't hold it in the same regard as the classics of SSLP or MMLP but it's definitely my favorite em album as it's one I can listen to on repeat & just be in awe of the rhyme scheme
@@waterisgreat_ Walk on water and arose actually sounded like new Em but the rest sounded more like mmlp2/shady XV or recovery leftovers. I think that's why this album gets so much hate.

relapse will go down as one of the most underrated hip hop masterpieces! RELAPSE 2 was scrapped cuz em wanted to progress his album in another direction hense the creation of RECOVERY.
I have a memory of writing all these lyrics out on a piece of paper in chemistry class in grade 12. Wasn't even listening to the song, just wrote the lyrics because they flow so well. Left the paper in the desk when I left class. Someone likely found it and now has a disturbing memory of finding creepy ramblings from a serial killer in a desk in chemistry class
This was not on relapse. It was a freestyle he dropped to promote his come back. First actual single for relapse was we made you. I still remember when this dropped I was so hyped that he came back🙏✌️
Not to mention this album is what thought me to rap. Stay wide awake by far is the absolute best song I have ever heard in rap and it was the first song I ever learned all the way through. Is it a fucked up song… yes, it’s also the best though. Show me another song by any other artist that has that beat, that rhyming, that flow and that story all wrapped in one song.
I agree. Stay Wide Awake is the most lyrical complex song ive ever heard. The rhyme schemes are out of this world, and if you notice the beat is a heart beat. Em is not human. lol
im one person that never hated on relapse, i actually love it cuzz of how fucked it is, plus im a horror core artist anyways so this music is an inspiration of someone who mastered it.
Relapse may not be EMS best album but it certainly is not garbage. I didnt know what to make of it when it first came out but now I really like it. Wish relapse 2 would come out that would be cool.
I wish em did more concept albums like relapse. It was just a really fun entertaining album and i still can revisit it all the time. Not every song needs to be about true life. I consider this album like a horror movie. You goto horror movies to be entertained. Just like when you listen to relapse. The guy has already said everything about his life at that point so making a fantasy album made sense

That's what he brought on kamikaze but apparently they'll still say "I miss the old slim shady." What they really want is something that they're never going to get so theyre going to go the rest of their lives repeating that same shit, and that is to relive the early 2000s and get the slim shady with blond hair, ear rings, and nasally voice. They're stuck in a portal and haven't moved forward.

When this shit dropped before relapse came out I was so fuckin excited. The beats hard and it was literally the first thing about an album since encore (not including Re-up)
I think we need to understand something Do not expect Shady from Marshall. Do not expect Marshall from Shady. I think they're two different guys, although you can find some albums where you can find them both, but I think he tends to categorise each album differently. More Shady or Less Shady. It depends on what he's feeling.
I Couldn't Care Less Marshall is Marshall Mathers. Slim Shady is this alter-ego he kinda created after Infinite was a flop, all his pent up rage he had inside, Shady was like letting all that out
