Dad reacts to Eminem No Apologies ➡ www.patreon.com/posts/dad-reacts-to-no-78521860 Thanks for watching everyone, this was a great and necessary song to cover!
let me know what i can do to have you guys do papaz song by 2pac... been asking for about a year... i will join patreon, or whatever you need if you do this
Side Bar : I think I speak for all of us watching when I say we don’t mind the discussion of the songs and it’s lyrics. I actually really enjoy both of your perspectives and opinions as well as feelings about the songs. Ky never cease to impress me with his dissection of lyrics and what he thinks they mean ( which he’s almost Always 💯% correct btw ) especially on songs like this that as you stated , you weren’t even born yet! KEEP GOIN GUYS! 🙌🏽 🚀 ❤️
Made me smile ear to ear when dad guessed the artist voice (Jay-Z) on first try and his huge smile when he realized he got it right. Pops is becoming a hip hop head for sure! Lol love it!🤙🤙🤙👍💯
Em’s delivery of “who’s the king of these rude ludicrous lucrative lyrics” just lives in my head, so smooth. Love seeing your dad react to these first time but equally love the breakdown and what you guys get out of it!
It's rare to hear the "oo" sound rhymed like that too, and he does it a lot there. It's nothing like on this song but I've always loved the "im just a hooligan, who's used to usin hallucinogens" from 3 am. Otherwise, another favorite of mine is Ghostface on wu Gambinos for "oo"
It's rare to hear internal to external 5 syllable rhyme schemes where it does take away from the message. That's why most lyrists will always give Em the nod. .and the reason why Royce said he preferred ems verse cause he stuck to the thene of being a Renegade
Eminem’s emphasis of certain vowel sounds over long verses while keeping the rhythm and rhymes is so masterful. You can see it here where he emphasizes those U (“you”) sounds in the first verse then in the second switches to the A emphasis and then I emphasis before the short Uhh emphasis makes it so smooth.
We definitely do. We don't want to just watch people listen to the songs. We want to hear their take on them. Tell us how it makes u feel. We are here for it
"I feel somehow, in a tenuous way, connected to this world through these vivid lyrics, the realism, people's expression" is exactly how we all connected to this music, your Dad is one of us now!
Yup definitely. I get why normally ppl say ems verse is better cuz they only hear Ems flow which is effortlessly smooth sadly they can't catch jays unique flow and subject matter. Em didn't wash jay on this they both did their thing. I'm still kinda biased towards em though since he in my favorite artist since childhood.
I'm not a Jay z fan tbh but the more I've listened to this song over the years, the more I realize how good his verses are. And your dad explained it perfectly but the more you listen to it, it sounds smoother .
because Jay pulls his verses right from his mind and experiences so they flow much more naturally. Eminem actually sits down and writes his rhymes line for line so they fit together the way they do. That's why his flow sounds much more linear with the "perfect" words, because he literally designs it that way. Jay's flow is more natural and the rhyme schemes are unorthodox with a much more natural delivery because he writes in his head and rehearses on the spot by mumbling. What takes the average rapper 20-30 min to write, Jay can think up in 5-10. Combine that with the references, the double and triple entendres AND the fact that he's talking about his real life and true events, you realize he's an alien. That's a lot harder to do whereas Em can say wild stuff like "Go to war with the Mormons" and everyone goes crazy lol.
your dad described Jay Z's style perfectly... because he doesn't know what he's gonna say next, he doesn't write, so everything is coming out as thoughts are forming
I never felt Eminem outshined Jay on this track, I always felt it was a great display of two different styles which fit perfect to create a classic song
Ive been watching since the first Biggie reaction and let me tell you, this is my favorite channel right now. I love when you both discuss and play on each other's ideas. It's beautiful to see someone who would not know anything about hip-hop learning and appreciating this art form that is often overlooked and written off. It's so wholesome.
It's funny that Em calls it out on this track... but the two of you breaking down tracks, reminded me of back when in HS English class with the teacher breaking down Shakespeare and learning about literary devices. Was too young to understand all the wordplay, metaphors, and things alike... but it's pretty cool to see how you guys are doing the exact same thing with Ky being the teacher... or more so the guide! Keep up the great work guys
I’m a BIG JAY Z fan but EM ate this track up! 💯 Probably some of the Most Controversial lyrics ever but TRUTH he spoke. AWESOME choice to react to, I’m excited to see what dad thinks of this ! 🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥
@@kanyeeisdaddy123 Heyyy , not random at all, I get it. Songs , there’s So Many but I’ll give you my 4 favorite Jay Z albums: Reasonable doubt , Thu Blueprint 2 , The Dynasty , & The Linkin Park & Jay Z mash up album ( somebody help me with the name lol ) but yeah..All great no skip albums , reasonable doubt being his 1st ever..Hope I helped in someway & enjoy !🤘🏼
🎉I was one of the people who requested this song, and No Apologies, and Im so glad your dad is finally getting a better picture of Em. I felt like his impression of him was a bit skewed from the Slim Shady era songs. I think your dad is still left to react to Lose Yourself, and would love it if you guys watched the movie 🎥 8 Mile (even off camera, and react after)
It's really amazing and impressive that your Dad is already knowledgeable enough about Hip Hop that he sensed it was an Eminem beat right in the beginning (and of course immediately recognized Jay's voice). About the song: just incredible to think that this record dropped in 2001(!), yet the flow and beat are so impeccable and modern. A truely timeless piece of art.
What pops was saying at 14:05 is something I’ve never put much thought into but it’s so true. Just shows how talented these guys are. Great song and reaction!
10:09 - I'm so glad he said this. Its the reason I love hip hop, especially the kind with storytelling and wordplay. It makes me think more about what's being performed in a way that other genres can't. And the comment on the connecting with the artists world is 100% true. I'm a 30 something white male from middle class suburban England, who grew up in a tiny village. Yet I can listen to a song like NY State of Mind and be immediately transported to a high rise in Queensbridge and be following Nas up a stairwell. Just love it.
I have nothing but love and passion for HipHop culture and you being able to share that with dad is something very special. Keep going. I loved the pause between verses. Your dialogue is great
I'n my humble opinion.. Em didn't demolish Jay. Jay had a point 2 prove and it's ironic he tells us"do u listen 2 music or skim through it".. He puts emphasis on what he's saying.. Em just is the best at taking syllables and reconnecting them 2 bring u into his lyrics.. Both ate this track up 💯
Em is not JUST the best of syllables and reconnections, he is better on bars as well. And yes jay z did his jay z thing which is phenomenal the story telling is so cool. If u listen closely u can see jay tried to copy em rhyme scheme too. Like the "u" . I dont know if its to pay homage or to connect the verses ,but i definitetly see it here and there. the thing is ems verse was pre-written and its still went off
This song isn't about who was better. It's ridiculous to judge a thoughtful song, about overcoming and courage to be on top, only to reduce the message to who ate who. It's disrespectful.
@@JayS64 it's always about that.. That's competitiveness that hip hop was rooted in.. Ask any rapper of they get on a track are they trying 2 do better than the other they gonna say hell yeah
Not once have i thought, "I wish these guys would just shut up and play the song". 😂 This is exactly what i come here for. The commentary, the outside perspective of someone with an open mind being exposed to what i grew up on. You both are gems to the RU-vid and hip-hop communities. Dont change 💯 Btw...if we wanna just hear the song without commentary, we know where to go for that. Love the channel ✅
This is one of my favorite songs from my childhood as it was the collab of my two favorite rappers ever! I loved watching your reaction to it! And the way your dad really listens and tries to understand everything about it is amazing! Such a great video! Keep up the good work! And do more Em songs please! Habe you shown him white america yet? That would be a great track for him to listen to!
Your dad is a quick learner. I love your videos together, so wholesome and a great idea. You're lucky to have this type of bonding experience and he's lucky to have such a great kid.
I wish I was able to have these talks with my dad. I smile when I see these videos. My dad isn't doing well and I ask that you cherish this time Kai. The conversation is important esp since your dad is being introduced to this. I love Jay. He's the Goat and my favorite. Great song choice. Def do Reasonable Doubt at some point. Also try and get a Midwest Nelly song in there. Introduce him to that style. Just a thought. Be safe. God bless
I give Jay the win on this one because I really relate to it especially his second verse at the time I was 14 hustling helping my mom with the bills and I felt like I wasn’t the only one going through it but if someone says em got him I won’t argue it
And what's even more impressive about Jay Z is that he doesn't even write anything down in the studio and he literally does a verse in his head and memorizes it on the spot. Crazy intelligent and talented! Icon!
Today is 27 years since the release of 2Pac All Eyez On Me. You should cover some of the songs from this. Personal faves are Holla At Me, Can't C Me, Tradin War Stories, Only God Can Judge Me
i got this cd in 8th grade and listened to this song every morning walking to school for probably two months. you probably won't remember, but dad might recall the anti-shock discmans... ahh those were the days, having to go to the music store, or a friends house to hear the new music dropping.
I can’t believe I commentated yesterday that you and your dad should react to this and now it has happened 😱💪🏻 the universe works in my favor for once 😂 loved it thanks guys
The best way I could describe this song is Jay Z had a very offbeat choppy flow but was able to make it sound good and Eminem had a very smooth flow where his words just flowed together so effortlessly and they both came together to make one of the best rap songs of all time
I listen then I come straight to the comments. Kai you did not disappoint with this one. Pops is an Em stan by the way.. No more baby steps with our pops after this one. He is truly indoctrinated. Time to break out the big guns... By the way I'm sure none of us mind the discussion. I have that discussion with a couple of friends as well when new music or something that grabs me lyrically
I think it’s be great to show your dad some movies like notorious or straight outta Compton , help him see some context and behind the scenes of people
Awesome video.I enjoy watching you guys have discussion over the lyrics.I think your dad would enjoy "Drop the World" by Lil Wayne and "The Watcher 2" by Jay-Z feat. Dr.Dre and Rakim.
I was so geeked up like a little kid when Dad knew Jay's voice 🙌🏽 🤗 I totally relate to Kye stopping right there at the first verse to pick apart those Jay lines and Dad please don't apologize for dissecting there, sometimes it's necessary ☺️ Y'all know Jay is my favorite rapper so no need to state who I liked better here but in terms of favorite Jay albums, surprisingly mine is American Gangster 🤷🏽♀️ It's just the one I relate to the most.
Would love to see you guys dive into some more Jay-Z, specifically some of his solo classics that defined his imagine off his first album, “Reasonable Doubt”
Love this song!! Em absolutely killed it on this track!! I love the relationship you have with your dad!! I lost my father to suicide a few years ago unfortunately.!! Cherish the time you have with your brilliant father, he seem like such a cool man! I think you guys should listen to Hailey's song and or mockingbird. Or a reaction to the Eminem show album maybe? Thanks for another great video guys.!!
I b used to think EM killed the track when I was younger but he was just says random words Jay z verse was a work of art and I'm not a jay z fan I love 2pac
@Aaron 88 yeah Jay Z verses are good 👍 don't get me wrong!! I'm just a huge Eminem fan and I think he outdid Jay in this track🤷 just mu opinion.! And of course who doesn't love 2pac !! 2pac and Em are the G.O.A.T.S in my opinion but I'm very open minded I like alot of other artists in the rap game of course. Biggie, Nas, 50 cent, The Game, Dre, Wu Tang, DMX etc
@@Dave1991. I'm a huge eminem fan as well and I don't really like jay z but his verse is one of the deepest I've ever heard eminem is just saying fancy words
@Aaron 88 yeah I'm not a big Jay Z fan either. But man I think EM destroyed it in this tune! Just my opinion 🤷 each to their own. You have your opinion and I respect it. At least we have something in common, we're both huge fans of Eminem 👍
I’ve been watching for a minute and I’m really glad you created this channel. Y’all hear so much that I haven’t caught when I’ve been listening to some of those sone for a while now. Great Ears!! Salute!! 4 songs I think are important Jay-z - Dead Presidents Scarface - My Block Outkast - Elevators(me & you) UGK - International Players Anthem Thank You Thank You Preciate y’all Preciate Y’all
I like how you can appreciate the stark difference between the artists rap flows over this track. That being said, when this song dropped the consensus was that Eminem overshadowed Jay-Z and even Nas was quick to point it out on Ether. Rap is so competitive, especially among Juggernauts like Em and Jay, that even when they rap together they’re still trying to outshine each other because they know the the fans are judging.
This song made all rappers afraid to feature em because he would majorly out do them on their own song. The only rapper I've ever heard that could keep up was sticky fingaz on em's song.
