I was a SMB fan in the 70's and I really didn't care for his updated sound when he released this. After seeing him perform this live, I learned to love it. Eminem is gonna make Steve Miller millions with his sampling.

Great reaction to this classic.. thank-you Mark. (BTW.. in your ‘spare time’ - you might enjoy watching a live version of this tune from 1982 - Pine Knob). IMO - even better than the video, and you get to experience Steve Miller (who, btw, is 80 yrs old now) and the rest of the band!

I love how the excitement shows on your face when you recognize the tune 🤗 I already knew the original but Eminem sampled it so perfectly that I had to go back to it to remember how the song orginally goes 😁 It's not often that I like how a sample or a cover is done but Em nails it every time. I grew up hearing this song on the radio and was delightedlyf**king brainsqueezing throughout. I was in Tigger bounce mode. The way it's sampled and morphed into the track is god level.

Check out Upside Down by Diana Ross. It’s a similar sound to Abracadabra. Steve Miller said he had certain feelings for Diana when he heard her sing her song. That inspired him to write Abracadabra!

It was a bit more than a sample. It was basically the entire track, minus the lyrics, lol. I doubt it was Eminem that produced it either. Probably Dre. It's a great track though and so refreshing after all the dull rap that dominated for so long and which mostly does nothing for me. I actually had little interest in rap, until I heard Ren rap. Eminem is Ren's rap hero and having been properly introduced to rap, via Ren, I can now more gully appreciate why he likes Eminem so much. They're both such a welcome contrast to most of the bland, unoriginal music, that dominates the charts nowadays. :)
