On the rest of that interview, he talks about Ems explanation. He loves what he does, but he got children to come home to. Won’t let the career consume him. I heard he learned that from Dre.
People used to be all about your job being everything - but thankfully the message of work/life balance is finally getting listened to. His daughters ain’t gonna praise his awesome album 20 years from now - they’re gonna remember instead that he was HOME, and PRESENT.
That’s a man who treats his music career like a real job and his time is very valuable…..Result now he’s one of the wealthiest, most popular and biggest rap stars in the world. 👍👍👍👍
It's as a result of his talent tbh, either approach he took would still have the same effect on his music. He's not one the biggest rap stars cus he clocked out at 5
When he signed the deal, he was working at some diner at the time. He made sure to call in to say that he won't be coming in for his shift. Classy move giving a heads up.
Went to the comments to be like “yea he did that for his kids, no doubt” and then I read someone say in the comments that “in the the rest of the interview, Akon says it was because of Em’s kids.” Makes perfect sense. Wakes up, takes them to school, eats lunch, probably has someone pick the kids up, home for dinner, bath time, bed time, wake up, breakfast with family, repeat. Eminem is a true family man and showed every rapper, fan, anyone he could, that he will always be a father first. People usually either become or avoid being like the parent they dislike or like the most. I’m glad he did the right thing and avoided being an absent father in his children’s lives.
He's got a daughter, That explains everything, no matter what type of a guy you are but if you had a first born daughter you're gonna change. Cuz holding them for the first time changes our world no matter how selfish or careless we are until then, We just want to be in their lives 🙏
That’s what is called having a work life balance. You make time for work and you make time for life. You shouldn’t overwork yourself; it’s detrimental. Yet you also have to make the work if you want to reach your goals.
I knew I always liked Eminem for a reason. He is a very RARE artist who learned how to separate his personal life from his business life. I always wondered why many artist had to be in the studio all night. I know know that was a choice they made the same way Eminem chose to work from 9-5.
That's because of the family dynamic you know go to work come home see your kids your wife have dinner go to sleep wake up do it again that's it it's because of a family dynamic and I respect the man for that
Im surprised this isnt a common practice because like... Not taking breaks and treating it like a job makes drug addition and mental health a much higher possiblity. Thats pretty much why people are so strung out as celebrities because youre the next best thing and have to keep up or you fell off and they blacklist you. A bunch of scenarios revolved around needing to be the greatest and worry about failure.
My ex-boss who is a millionaire always told me that having dinner with his kids was the most important part of his day. Truly you must admire a person who values family over material things.
Ernest Hemingway would always stop in the middle of a writing really interesting scene. He said it was so he would have no trouble starting again the next day.
“All the pain inside amplified by the fact That I can't get by with my 9-to-5 And I can't provide the right type of life for my family 'Cause man, these goddamn food stamps don't buy diapers”
So in any other earth version, Eminem would’ve been like an engineer? Eminem the engineer because, creative people don’t really have much of a schedule. Creative just flows it flows and then you take it as far as you can go; that’s not a 9-to-5 thing.
What he says in this clip is actually different from what DRE said about Em when they first worked together... he was saying that this was exactly the mentality that Eminem did NOT have... well, I guess the corporate mentality got to him in the end 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
oh, so when eminem does it , its called love and passion for his rap career that he treats it like a proper job. but when others do it on their REAL REGULAR JOB, then they are judged as quite quitting? society i live in
