Flying home after a layover in Dubai meant i had to endure the flight from hell. This flight from hell was part of a flight on emirates from Bengaluru in India to London Stansted & then on to Edinburgh Scotland. This flight was on one of Emirates Boeing 777-300ER's. Emirates being the largest operator of the Boeing 777 300 ER. In this Trip report Travel Vlog i try to get through a flight with screaming kids in Emirates Economy class on their Boeing 777.
This is a Comprehensive travel vlog aviation review of Emirates Econemy class from Dubai international airport to London Stansted airport.

What are your thoughts on the current idea flying around for Family designated areas on aircraft?
@alexmcwhirter6611
@alexmcwhirter6611 10 месяцев назад
Others have suggested this idea, Dom. Problem is that space is the most precious commodity on an aircraft and no carrier would want to allocate that space if it, sometimes/often, would remain empty. I mean look at Air NZ's Skycouch. Once touted by the media as something which Air NZ could sell to the world's airlines. But, Air NZ excepted, it didn't have much appeal to international carriers.

@@duncant3894 True. There's also an airline flying out of AMS to, I think, the Dutch Caribbean area which has similar. Point is though that these two are serving different select markets to the big global airlines.

I agree with this as coming back from rhodes in may this year I had a kid behind me and in front. The one in front was throwing stuff and the one behind kept kicking the seat . It was only 4 and a half hours and that was bad enough

You're going to have to do a lot better than using the title "this was my worst flight ever" and then proceeding to describe a perfectly normal economy class flight that just happened to have a crying baby
@jah718
@jah718 10 месяцев назад
I understand it's annoying to have to listen to a crying child during a flight, but ultimately you have to understand that you're essentially on public transport, and part of that is sharing the space with others. Every child is different and you never know how they will react in a given situation. I can also assure you that nobody feels the pressure of a crying child more than the parents themselves, nobody wants to be hated by everyone on the plane. I would strongly suggest investing in a pair of noise cancelling headphones and your problem will be solved. Or just fly private if not being around others is of high importance.

While I whole heartly agree sadly from what I could observe on this flight the Parents simply didn't care, like it was just another day to them. the parents and child were in the row in front up against the bulkhead. The parents put the child in a cot on the foor infront at the start of the flight and attendent to the kid maybe two or three times for the whole flight. Sadly in this case its 100% on the parents, they should have been way more attentive to thier child.

Actually some parents really don't care about their crying children. I've seen this many times especially in the Middle East. My solution? Silicone ear plugs and Bose noise reduction headset

The video title is misleading, Emirates had nothing to do with your flight from hell. You should consider changing the title to something "Screaming your way to Stansted", unless you made this title purposfully to garner the attention of audience to your video to have more views. Emirates haters would love your title though. EK didnt deserve it if they had nothing to do with your ears agony.from hell! Regarding seat and window issue, I would advise you to check Seat Guru to land a good one, if not aware or experienced enough!😂

@WorldWide_Dom 10 месяцев назад
I did make a point of stating during the video that my bad experiance was by no means on the fault of emirates or thier staff & praised them for providing a great service/product. As for the seat, this is my experiance with all the 777 window seats, I think its just the way the seat is attached to the railings in the floor. Funily enough I am a regular use of SeatMap & Seat Guru I think they are fantastic websites. While I generally try to keep things positive in my videos, sadly I have to call it how it is sometimes.

I feel your pain. I once sat behind a group of nuns on a flight from Rio to Gatwick. They did not sit still the whole flight and would constantly recline/unrecline their seats…

At the risk of being unpopular, I feel that constantly crying babies/toddlers on a long haul flight is purely down to parental neglect….there’s no need for it. Parents should go prepared for the flight with young children. As I see it, there are two separate reasons why children become fractious….It’s common for young children and babies to experience ear pain due to pressure changes during take off and descent/landing. To minimise this, sucking helps, so a breast feed or a bottle or drink that children have to suck on is the order of the day during takeoff and landing. The other thing that causes toddlers and young children to become fractious and vocal is boredom during the flight. How many times do we ask young children to sit in the same seat for an extended period at home?! The solution therefore is to go prepared. Age appropriate books, toys, colouring books etc will help break up the boredom and therefore keep young children happy and minimise the attention seeking and boredom screaming. I speak from experience of travelling with a baby/toddler/young child….and with strategies that worked. Parents need to think about how the flight will affect their child and put strategies in place to deal with this….ultimately it will be better for the child and less stressful for the parents and others passengers and staff.

Exactly - babies cry because they are hungry or tired 99%. Parents need to be attentive, here they're probably being c***s.

It's difficult with young children, hence only took my child on short haul until older. You don't know the family circumstances though. Down to parent's or guardian to nurse them lot's of TLC, there may have been anxiety or ear discomfort. Sorry for a poor flight.
@WorldWide_Dom

Sometimes is unavoidable. The father appeared to be western and the mother East Asian so I imagine they were visiting family etc, in any case I would never deny or decry someone for taking their kid on a long haul flight, what I do take issue with is the parents paying no attention to the kid. It’s not fair on them or other passengers. The Emirates staff were great in trying to help the parents but they didn’t seem interested. I should say that in the row opposite was a glorious example of how to handle young kids on a plane. I maybe should have included that in the video but hindsight is a great thing 😅

We binge-watched your last few videos as we've been travelling ourselves to Scotland (including a fantastic journey to Shetland) and Northern Ireland. Sorry to see your stress at the end of an amazing trip. So many flights cancelled and delayed lately that you feel honoured if your flight actually goes...and on time! Glad you got home safe and sound. Looking forward to the next. Oh, and on the babies/toddlers on flights top. Your experience would be my "flight from hell" too. I love love love to fly and my flights are a big part of the enjoyment of my vacation. While I wish I could afford business and first class, that's a very rare treat so I'm usually in economy. Most times it's fine but... I doubt an airline would make a designated zone for families with the smallest travellers as it doesn't solve the noise issue. Kid-free flights? Yes, I'd sign up for that even if it cost a little more. Until that all happens (and I doubt it will as someone will call it discrimination on some level) I think I'll invest in some very good, noice-cancelling headphones.

Glad you’re enjoying the content. There are one or two airlines that are trying to implement the family zones ( with great controversy), I would like to see a trial done to see if it improves customer satisfaction. If it does great, if not then no harm done. My issue with headphones despite being the answer here is the really decent noise cancelling headphones are always the over ear kind from shopping around and I simply don’t have the space in my one rucksack setup for ones so large. 😅

Great video Dom! I felt your pain and misery. Just think, with a few more subscribers you'll be flying like some of your RU-vid peers and all you'll have to moan about is there not being enough USB ports in your seat or being served Veuve Cliquot instead of Bollinger. Please don't let that happen.

I’ll let you into a little secret, it maybe low standards on my part but it genuinely makes my bloody boil when other (won’t name names) complain about such things. 😅 Ok yes you paid for the extra service etc but to me always pays to have awareness of your environment, keeping in mind there are people just feet from you that are not getting what you are getting and if the service is specifically bad for you in business class then imagine what it’s like for those in economy. 😅 Plus being a Scotsman I find it hard to justify to myself paying 3-4 times plus the price to get to the same place. I’d rather spend the money on improving the quality of my videos or taking more flights on lesser known airlines. 😁

@@WorldWide_Dom Keep doing what you are doing Dom. Your videos are useful for the vast majority of people that want to travel. Those other videos are just voyeurism - and there's only so much toilet reviewing you can do (what are they expecting to see in there - a balcony?)!? I think first class travel videos will soon fall from favour especially as the prices increase seemingly exponentially and the makers of those videos are starting to get a little consumed with themselves. As we would say in Ireland as a great put down - "It's a long way from Bollinger that you were reared"!

Surely the problem with a child free zone is if you are close to that zone, you will still hear the screaming. Now, child free flights - that would be my idea of bliss, and I'd happily pay considerably more for that!
@WorldWide_Dom
@WorldWide_Dom 9 месяцев назад
That would depend on many factors, especially aircraft type. For example on this 777 there are two economy sections, the one I was in was the by far the smaller one with bulkheads between each section. So potentially it could work in some was by section like that, but as you say it is a tricky one and it’s only a handful of airlines that say they will test it. It will be interesting to see the results from the tests that do go ahead.
