Emirates Has Made Big Changes To Its Airbus A380 Routes

Big changes appear to be coming to Emirates’ A380 operations! Some routes will now have more A380 flights, while others will see the double-decker sooner than expected. However, the type will no longer be used to certain countries, freeing up the equipment for these other developments and more.

Emirates last operated the A380 on DXB-IAD in early November 2023, the daily flight switched temporarily for the winter season to the 777-300ER :)

One thing i noted is that A6-EUP (a 2 class configuration A380 which i flew in 2023) has been grounded for over 6 months now. What happened to it?

Booked Osaka to Dublin return for this coming June last December. Was 777 all the way. Well now the KIX - DXB - KIX route is now A380….restarting on June 1st this year. Woohoo

Emirates total fleet of A380 is 116 Of these 87 are currently flying. The rest (29) are parked for various reasons including maintenance and re-fits and winter storage. The average age of the A380 fleet is 9.1 years The newest A380 A6-EVS was delivered December 2021 Emirates have 1 narrow body in service. It’s a 12 year old A319-100.

Unfortunately, no. They would need thousands of potential orders for this. And given the debacle of Boeing, they get so much orders for A320/321 that this easily picked up the slack in their manufacturing capabilities freed by A380.
