This is a classic song. If it wasn't for the Beatles the song would have been the Christmas no.1 of 1964 for Petula Clark. Emma Bunton does a good job here with her cover.
Wow. Came here sniffing out who on Earth would have the audacity to cover PC's immortal 'Downtown', ready to throw knives and hurl abuse at the monitor... But she nailed it! Dosen't have PC's iconic pure crystalline timbre, but... She has her own, and She really nailed it, and I bear no gripe. Lovely :D
Was looking for Petula's hit when I came across this. Much better than I thought it would be from the former baby spice. The backing singers were excellent, but reminded me of the sketch with John Cleese, Ronnies Barker and Corbett, with their different shapes and sizes!
