Miriam Stockly is just awesome... she is the blond backing singer who carries the song, she also did the job on the backing for Katrina and the waves in 1997 she was awesome then too.
I love how Miriam's mic gets turned down for her sustained notes because she's so awesomely powerful! If you watch the version of this from Song For Europe she's holding the mic so far from her mouth because she drowns Emma out otherwise!
@Aslan28 Miriam Stockly became the lead singler with early 90s group Praise who scored a top ten hit with "Only You" and a year later they released the fantastic "Dream On" which did not chart which was disappointing really because I adored that song so much. Shame I don't have a copy of that song. I've only got the song "Only You". Their music was just so relaxing.
Peace and unity were the main focused trends for 1990, Emma is an okay singer but backing vocalists definitely helped her. This song is so cliched yet hypocritical as UK invaded Iraq several months later!
They should send Emma Booth to Eurovision but it was way too soon for her.She didnt had such an experience to handle the contest and she was really stressed, even though she gave a fantastic performance. Also the song couldnt show off because it was the year with everyone singing about piece and love.Despite that, its a great song and has a strong message, too bad it finished 6th,she could easily be in top 3.
The song is ok, her voice wasn't great but at least she could perform it live. I think it's more that a bit similar to "I wanna know..." by Foreigner. Anyone disagree?
@MysteryOfTheFence Samantha Janus' song is recognised by the juries as one of the better Eurovision entries but they admit that it got their backs up because the presentation was at odds with the lyrics and sentiment of the song. "25 year old" Gina G's song was smelly pants of the stinkiest order.
Am I listening to the same song as the rest of you? I'm afraid I think this is a meagre, happy-clappy offering - little better than Samantha Janus' ill-fated effort the following year. Give us Gina G any day over this!
Her voice is awful! but they should still do these cheesy lovey dovey type songs - they are funny to watch rather than tragic like that load of rubbish last year-scooch or something.
