Some of Yuan's shots were amazing, her mentality however was the deciding factor. She would attack Emma's service games but then start with errors on her on serve. Congratulations to Emma for coming through
The issue with Yuan is that she physically cannot move her butt to the net. She makes everything so much more complicated with her lack of volleying/comfortability at the net. Multiple times she’s opened up the court brilliantly but she either stays back at the baseline to bash more balls or she’s late moving in giving her opponent time to place the ball away from her. This was an assessment after watching her beat Begu at last years US Open but it’s been over a year and not much in her game has changed. Hats off to Raducanu for exposing her major weakness and being able to capitalize on those opportunities
Agreed. Kasatkina will be good to see where her level is at. She does need though to start beating the top 20 players regularly to make that next jump.
Her following is due to her magic win in 2001. Plus she has an impressive aura about her. Beautiful and sweet. Anyone who likes her knows deep inside, at best, she’s a top 30 player. That’s it. She may never win another title. But watching her his additive. Graceful player.
I don't know about you, but I'm really happy that Emma is back in shape, or rather that she's slowly getting back to her former level. It's been so long, and it's good to see her reach a quarter-final again.
@@JCSX.007 yeah some people just don't follow tennis outside the slams and make ignorant comments like this... her year has been her best so far since 2021
Great to see Emma overcoming so many injury problems in recent times and gradually coming back to her best. That takes real courage. The usual haters and middle-aged Reply Guys can't moan about this one!
she gets paid tens of millions for this - she has a lot to lose otherwise. playing tennis is not real courageous thing, her situation is better than 99% of working human beings
She needed 9 mps to finish this match and she couldn't serve out the match even though she had 7mps on her serve. She played terribly in this match. She was lucky to get this Chinese weakling as her opponent. She won't win next match playing like this. She too much relies on opponent's unforced errors and you are saying that she is coming back to her best. Her best is crushing Stearns and Yuan easily, she didn't do that. She was inconsistent. She was lucky that Yuan ran out of gas when she served to get the score to 4:5 in the second set. Against Kasatkina such reliability won't work. Kasatkina is great player who reached top 10 multiple times. Emma Raducanu needs to change her coaches and the way how she plays tennis in order to challenge top 10-20 players or to have any hope on winning tournaments.
@@deusexmachina9776You could say this about any other tennis player. Quit being a hater - it is really cringe to read all these negative comments when I can bet lots of money that you can hardly hit a tennis ball lol
You gotta love her style and passion. As many predicted, winning the US Open at age 18, while being a great accomplishment, also derailed her process. Even the injuries could be related to that extra pressure a bit too early in her career. Great to see here once again moving towards her place in the WTA, which should be at least top 50.
What as great grind 'em out win for Raducanu. Man this is not an easy way to make a living. This is just a smaller event in Seoul yet such a tough match. Yuan is a quality opponent and saved seven match points. Good for Emma to hold it together. Have never understood the people trashing Raducanu. She looks like she is working very hard to me. If she can raise her ranking a little higher maybe she can finally get some easier draws.
Whatever happens in the next round mission accomplished for this tournament. She beat a top 50 and a top 40 opponent. 3 matches played. Will rise to 54 in the world rankings. No shame if she loses to Dasha who is 13 in the world and should win that match. However the trolls will jump on any loss. So onto the next one and good job so far.
@rahulrava619 correct. All slam champions lose to other players at some point. No shame in losing to a higher ranked player. Daria is 13 in the world so is favourite for that match.
@@rahulrava619 Ah yes. The delulu Emma Raducanu hater is here again. Emma Raducanu is great player unlike your weaklings Stearns and Yuan. Keep on hating on Emma Raducanu you failure. You can only dream on winning a Grand Slam. Emma Raducanu already have a Grand Slam to her name. Emma Raducanu is the favorite to win against Kasatkina in the Quarter-Final tomorrow. I really hope that Emma Raducanu will win against Daria Kasatkina tomorrow.
Yes Emma's serving was well up from her previous match,i think 11 aces in the match today from her, when her service is firing she is a tough match for any player, great to see her also on the front foot playing her attacking game which is when she is at her best.
If you had won the US open as a qualifier without dropping a set you would be famous too. Emma has lost form badly since the miracle but let's not forget what she achieved, and on her day she is a top 10 player for sure.
Emma played quite well until it came time to close out the match. Struggled mightily at 6-4, 5-2…. 5 match points came and went. Eventually it was Yuan who handed her the match on the 7th match point by hitting a simple backhand long. Yuan played well in stretches but she seemed to be carrying an injury which affected her service motion, hence she got broken a lot.
They should have a rule banned players from wearing the same colour outfit. When you watch the long distance shot on a small tablet you don't have a clue which pink outfit is which.
@@trishennaidoo1309 Each new kit could have 2 variations, they can even be reversible. One player wears one, the other the reverse, or alternate. Not a difficult or expensive solution. May even increase revenue if people are given more options, or for collectors.
@@DeathlyTired Emma is Nike sponsored and Juan is one of the players just given kits to use ,but tournament or the WTA can't tell players what kits to wear its the same as watching Wimbledon.
Emma is in the qualifying draw for Wuhan 1000 along with Muchova, Andreescu, Stephens and Osaka - Emma got a WC for Ningbo 500 (right after Wuhan 1000) and Hong Kong 250 (last event of the year )
Come-on Emma. PLEASE beat Kaksatkina! 10% RULE .. 10% Quicker back to T! 10% Closer to sidelines drives! 10% Deeper drives.. Higher ! YOU CAN DO IT ! Say it - Do it - Believe it! ...REPEAT....
Yes I believe so. Her schedule is very packed for the rest of the year - she's playing in both Asian masters, 250 Hong Kong, another Chinese 250 and another Asian 500 event - so another 5 tournaments in the Asian swing after this one! I can't remember the names of them all.
@@francisedward8713 Yeah because Bejing. starts on the 25th, this tournament ends in 22th. So it will be very tight there, hopefully she will recover quickly from jet lag
Very apparanet raducanu has very good skills and has the tools and weapons but needs alot more adjustments and tweaking, most especially mentally, for her to be in seripus contention with the big guns. This works at this level, she barely gets away woth it, but this wont work against the top 12
@@borood1188 If you want to say that then great, 5 of those were 3 setters, shes playing top 30ish tennis this year and her ranking would be a lot higher if she decided to play more tournaments
Are the fans celebrating yet? Is the Trafalgar Square closed for celebrations tonight? FFS she just won her second match in a 500 event. Calm down, people.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣You are soooo funny! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 We are all happy to know that you have finally found a purpose in your useless life. My grandma always used to say - for weaklings first, there is the envy and the next step is hatred.
