She is one of the most talented actress, love her acting. Hope she will play as long as she can and she will be not discriminated by her age. She is also a wonderful human being.
The scene in “Love Actually” when she sees the gold heart and ruby necklace and she was so excited, only to be let down when she realized it wasn’t for her? I cry every time. RIP Alan Rickman, who married the love of his life whilst in bed due to cancer.
@@luciadilazzaro2285 Yet the truth of that relationship brought richness to her acting and hope for her future ~ Being bitter is a poison one swallows thinking someone else will die
Yes, I’m an American, but I wish our television programming was more like the UK and less censored. Gasp...kids listening to adults discuss marriage and sex and healthy relationships. Mustn’t have that! SMH.
Emma Thompson was already perfect to me. Her last scene in the park with Dustin Hoffman in "Last Chance Harry" is acting perfection. The fact that she speaks so highly of my favorite Actor, Stanley Tucci, is just icing on the cake.
She is bloody brilliant ! Actor, writer, producer, comedienne, wife, mother, friend to many - including some iconic Brits like Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie who may not have ever worked together had it not been for Emma introducing them at Cambridge. I don't think she has EVER done bad work, from period pieces, to Love, Actually, The Remains of the Day to Nanny McPhee - she is the real deal. And gorgeous to boot. I want to be sequestered in a Hotel Suite with lots of happy hour munchies, a whole lot of wine, a bunch of girlfriends and Emma Thompson and Julie Walters. Probably would not make it out alive....can you die from laughing ??
Those poor American hosts. They struck a real woman, prepared to talk about real things in an honest way. They looked as though it wasn't something they encountered much.
lili M Absolutely nothing. That's the new thing to do on YT haha. Any criticism a non-American has about someone they immediately talk about the fact that that person is American. I saw a comment on here recently to that effect and the woman they were criticizing was actually Korean lol. It was so awkward.
Phantom Alma Add Kate Winslet and Tilda Swinton and it could be (but not bloody likely to be) the worst thing since the invention of the camera and I would pay to go see it.
She's so true and right. There is nothing pretentious about her. And I love that she defends the point of the husband. Life and marriage are much more complicated then "if you have an affair, it's over".
@@frankibabi1 Sorry, I apologise. I just struggle to understand if she was pretentious to you the first interview or even the second of the many you’ve seen her in, why continue to watch more? Personally I wouldn’t if I thought so. The door policeman story may have well happened to her but she’s obviously exaggerated it for comedic effect. Seen plenty of Hollywood actors/actresses repeat a farfetched story over and over in interviews on these shows. Can’t blame them. 🤷🏻♀️ They promote for every upcoming film mostly, on a number of these types of shows in both US and the UK, don’t forget. They barely get asked about the film/tv they came to promote until maybe the last question.
@@Deano-Dron81 Hi. When watching a show like Graham Norton for example, I will continue watching for the other guests. I have enjoyed a couple of films of hers, but cannot stand anyone who "performs" at every oportunity. Just me, I guess.
Emma Thompson is one of my favorite actresses. She’s beautiful and yet not afraid to self-deprecate and look old or unattractive in a movie role like Nanny McPhee. All the while making us laugh with her Goodnature.
Most amount of thoughtful content from these brief and always lightweight GMA interviews I've ever encountered. On my way now to look for longer Thompson interviews.
She's truly incredible! Beats me how Dame Emma finds time to make films, do the promotion circuit and whatnot, after having taken so many refugees and asylum seekers into her beautiful homes in the most gorgeous parts of Great Britain. Bless her. She should be made a Baroness now - no, a Princess. A star should be named after Dame Emma for her selfless devotion to truth, honesty and tireless humility. An example to us all.
I just watched it! Emma Thompson was sooooooooooo good in the movie! And much as I appreciated and enjoyed her acting, it was her singing that really stunned me! Simply awesome!
I have personally lived the scenes from Love Actually and from the Children Act...my limit was 6 years and multiple affairs on his part...and kept on a face of a happy marriage for 17 years. Emma Thompson is my spirit animal. If I can be half as witty and full of heart as she is as I age it will be a life well lived.
I would prefer my Grandchildren to hear an honest and clean answer an someone to look up to than the negative, false plastic guests they so often have on.
I love her hair she really does look like her stunning and OH! so talented Mum. I think The Nanny Mcphee statue is a wonderful idea!!! I just wish The British would learn as much as possible about her campaign against Fracking before it is too late.
Emma Thompson, Olivia coleman , emilia clarke , florence pugh, and many of these british actresses radiate a beautiful kind of "realness " that is so comforting and grounding
syecas18: The Fourth plinth is the northwest plinth in Trafalgar Square in central London. It was originally intended to hold an equestrian statue of William IV, but remained bare due to insufficient funds. (I googled the info).
@@seycas118 Yeah it was bare for over a century, then in recent years it's started having a high turnover of various statues - usually light hearted, humorous ones.
What's hilarious is that I've never heard any of this before, but as soon as Robin asked Emma about the statue all I said was "there is no way that it isn't Nanny McPhee" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow. Have morning shows changed so much? This was adult and funny and thoughtful and substantial. The last time I watched one it was candy floss and dreck.
Saw Nanny McPhee for the first time just a couple of months ago, with my 16 YO granddaughter. Then watched it again the very next day with my wife. Loved it so much, we bought it. But my FAVORITE movie with Emma Thompson (no, it's not an "Emma Thompson movie," because it's an ensemble cast) is "Stranger Than Fiction" with Will Farrell, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Most people I know have never even heard of it. I always tell them to buy it, and if you don't like it, I'll buy it from you for whatever you paid. If you haven't seen it yet ... DO! AWESOME film!
