This Sunday, Christians around the world celebrate the Day of Pentecost - a day that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. At Emmanuel, we welcome back guest preacher Erika Haub, who will be speaking on why the daily decision to remain, to dwell, and to connect with Jesus is as much at the heart of our journey as it was for Jesus' first followers.
Just as Israel was led by God’s presence, so too are we. Finding our way in the desert must always be tied to our awareness of Jesus not simply as teacher and guide but as the One which connects to us and us to each other: our very source of life. Without our connection to the vine, to the person of Jesus, we are nothing more than a bunch of withered sticks blowing around the desert places. With Jesus, we are secure in his love and power, his relationship with his father, and our privilege is to bear fruit along the way.
