Petit knows that there are only a small handful of other World Cup winning teams of other country’s that can rival his, so that’s why he talks that big talk about Mbappe and the France squad. Difference between Deschamps and Southgate though is that Deschamps has earned the right to play this way he's proven for many years that with his style he can go all the way to the final and won a world cup unlike Southgate. He's also adapted to numerous players his backline and midfield are completely different with some players at the end of their cycle and yet he's still competing.

The one big reason Petit failed to point out is Kylian Mbappe is missing Paul Pogba. Paul Pogba is the reason France excelled in Euro 2016 and the world cup 2018. He was their best player in Euro 2020 until Mbappe's missed penalty eliminated them against Switzerland. Without Pogba's creativity and long accurate passes to Mbappe, there's a big disconnect between midfield and attack. No French player has the qualities Pogba brings to the team.

Little Emmanuel is a tough guy, I remember when he wore a mask when his nose was broken, fact is Mbappe is the best player in the world, you know why?
