England will play the Netherlands in the semi final of Euro 2024 and Southgate must drop Harry Kane says Mark Goldbridge. Agree? Get your comments in below.
If this was a club manager no way Kane would be starting. International managers are a unique breed. Picking players on mates rates at this level is a joke
@@Bert-lw1ot Exactly lol. People are talking like watkins and toney are like mbappe or lewa. Watkins has been poor in the several chances he's had for England, and Toney hasn't scored for about 5 months.
The treatment of Gordon beggers belief. Please Mark can you do a piece on Anthony Gordon - he has definitely been banished for having the temerity to speak the truth at the press conference. The guy is a dribbler, an attacker, a supplier, a scorer, a game changer, a workhorse and a throroughbred, and he should be playing in a front 3 with Palmer and Watkins.
Mark is right about the state of modern football. I genuinely believe that Kobbie Mainoo is being stifled by both Southgate and Ten Hag. He can do insane things with the ball at his feet but is obviously being told not to. Pickford hoofing the ball 60 yards when Mainoo is calling for it is all on Southgate.
think it was towards the end of the first half, and Saka put a ball across the goal, and Kane couldn't even be bothered to run into the box. Watkins and Toney deserve a chance at this point
at no point did Saka look up- twice Kane pulled off the defender into space for a pullback and saka just over hit a blind cross- I like Saka he has most defenders beat down the line but his final ball is awful. Kane has not been at his best for sure but all strikers count on sevice and he is not getting much but still has 2 goals.
@@chrisallen19821982can't count on service if you don't make the runs or space. Watkins got a chance mins after coming on by running.. something kane doesn't do
@@chrisallen19821982 it depends on how you look at it really. Some strikers , especially when in form, would've attacked the space and gotten on the end of that cross. Sometimes players just put balls in dangerous areas. They don't always pick out a team mate.
@@ashwilliams4959it’s damn hard to lookup when your in the process of beating your man. Strikers know when someone is cutting in, you get to that near post. Watch premium league clubs do it week in, week out.
@@dutchieq3059tbf France played way better, I don’t feel bad for Netherlands when they camped in defence all game and offered nothing. France should have scored they just have no finishing
Liverpool fan here. The most extraordinary player I ever watched with a ball at his feet was George Best. On muddy, snowy waterlogged pitches he was simply magical. Can you imagine how many modern coaches would stifle that talent. Football with a few exceptions has become formulaic.
Mate, you're so spot on!..most of today's players could never play on those pitches back then..when players were players and football was proper football!!..ps...George Best WAS the best!!👍👹
Mark is spot on with the individualist topic. Players like Ronaldinho, Zidane, Messi are literally non existent. Its gotten to a point, where football is getting boring and its getting structured instead. Gone are the good old days.
It's not just those world class players that are missing, it's the skillful mavericks that were in every team, like Kinkladze, Wanchope, Collymore, Kewell, Ginola, Asprilla, Le Tissier, Totti, Denilson......just randoms off top of my head!
And it doesn’t help that players these days are paid goodness knows how much to play even if they’re not good. The moment million pound transfers were the norm, football started to go downhill.
Mark, I totally agree about the 'style' of modern football. There is a great clip when Newcastle played out a 3-3 draw with Man City. Maxi gets the ball and just sprints at the backline of City, Pep sinks to his knees as he knows the system he put in place has failed, Maxi slips in Wilson .....goal. Pace, trickery, directness, no pass, pass, pass which 'might' lead to a goal. It was direct, quick and effective....
Kane drops soo deep he actually gets rid of himself being an outlet for the midfielders to pass to, also it makes those indecisive Pickford long balls look even more useless
@@MontysKillerRabbit Oh yeah I just checked and you’re right….the team is like squished in the middle, too high up so ball over the top could be an issue, but the strikers aren’t forward enough to really do any decent pressing
@@INNIMA When I played football if someone was passing like that and it kept going to nobody, they’d be dropped. Pickford can be so wasteful in possession, yet wants the ball at his feet constantly so he can keep kicking the ball off to the other team 🤦🤣
I couldn't care if he hates us as long as he just wins a bloody trophy. We both want the same thing, a trophy. Sick to death of his teams always underperforming when it matters most
You England fans are the worst. Southgate has now taken England to 2 semi finals and a final in the last 3 tournaments and none of you have any gratitude. You disrespect your opponents constantly, act entitled as if it's your right to win the thing and bash your team at every opportunity. Appalling stuff. None of you know what really goes on in the background and what's being seen in training. Southgate is a lifelong football man who's played the game at a top level and I'm pretty sure he knows a lot more than England fans. Stop your whining and get behind your team and manager.
What makes you think he hates the fans lol? Give your head a shake. This squeaky virgin relentlessly banging on after every game is good entertainment- but he needs to relax. We’re not playing to our potential but he’s a bit dramatic lol.
He's walked away. Now watch us go and hire another abysmal defensive manager who doesn't set up his teams the way our squad are used to playing at club level.
I told my mates years ago. Pep ruined football. The coach is now the superstar. Back in the day every team had at least 1 flair player or even a star. Football is so pragmatic and boring now.
And thats the exact reason why I'm such a big fan of saka because of the individualism but in the right way and he can score wonder goals as well my favourite England player along with mainoo
Take grealish for example with how football is now, at Villa he was main man taking people on but now at city he can’t take anyone on he has to just stand them up then pass backwards
Couldn’t agree more with the comments you made at the end of the video. Football lately has bored me because of lack of risk taking, everything is so structured and instinct has been taken over by tactical instruction.
The great Brazilian forward Tostao called it years ago. His prediction that football players would get less and less individual has been proven correct!
But it would be better if he didn't have those 60 minutes in the first place. Southgate doesn't NEED to do anything, but if he wants the best chance of winning yes he does.
Maybe, the group games would have been ideal to rest him and give more minutes to Watkins and toney. If Gareth was daring he would see it as an opportunity to have someone like watkins challenge the defense and tire them out@Disinfo321
Other way round. Start Watkins and bring kane on later. You want the kanes, toneys etc on for the inevitable et and pens. Use fresh legs and replace with the star players from 60mins
Hes a target man who plays well with overlapping players who he can make passes to and then have them create a chance. The opposite of what southgates tactics do.
I’m not the biggest Ivan Toney fan but that penalty not looking at the ball and using peripheral vision to pick the spot was Fire 🔥. Kane needs resting Southgate needs arresting.
Couldn't agree more on the overcoaching that drives individuality to extinction point. For all the tactical club managers we've had over the past 15 years, who's the most successful manager in the most prestigious club competition? Carlo Ancelotti, a manager who is known for his adaptability and for bringing out the best of the players he has, not for cherry-picking players that "fit his system"
They were saying Kane had no dribbles yesterday but that’s not fair as they clearly weren’t counting the dribbles off the ball. His highlight was nearly cleaning out Southgate.
How can southgate drop kane Konsa , stones and kane are now England's settled back 3 in a new formation Kane touched the ball 4 times in there box, fact
would love to see what someone like Klopp could do with this group of players. Someone that isn't afraid to take the game to the opposition and play without fear of losing.
The England team has always been picked based on name this is nothing new, what annoys me if I remember rightly is Southgate saying that wouldn’t be the case when he was hired 😡
Well said Mark, players are coached to death, the games are too frequently boring. Give the most skilful players their freedom and they can destroy the over coached robots.
Kane and Foden both putting a stinker, They don't even trying to be productive. Bellingham playing poor as well but at least you see him trying, Yes he sometimes lose the ball but he push forward and trying to do something. This whole England need a massive shake up, They are poor from the roots. Sack this manager after the Euro the most important thing for the future of England football even more then winning that Euro 2024 trophy.
Foden doesn't work with Kane. I remember against who was it, when Gordon n palmer went in, they combined well with Kane🤔 Sometimes you need someone who understands you,to be good.
how are you saying Bellingham and Kane are playing poor, they are our top scorer. Use common sense bro. Foden has been sh*t but you cant say that for Kane and Bellingham. Bellingham makes magic
Kane asked to be subbed yesterday apparently. Which tells you that he knows himself he’s holding them back. A bit of bravery on Southgate’s part here is required. Give Pickford the armband.
@@JPayne95so your a coward because you recognize your not fit and arent contributing dragging your mates down when you have world class options on the bench? Wtf is wrong with your brain.
Imo trippier, foden and kane are deadweights to the team. Let's say kane and foden might have one brilliant moment, but trippier? Average player that is already played out of position, why insist on having him play?
And this is exactly the reason why we will do what we always do which is we get so far, mainly based on easy draw, and lose when we come up against decent opposition because Southgate is not brave enough to make the decisions that need to be made
He’s absolutely right especially at the end in regards to dribbling and football now & individuality I’m scared his opinion w ont be enough despite how accurate it is so it will come thru
Southgate is right to point to results because there is nothing else to point to. It is win or bust for England. No-one will care how we got there if we win but no-one will feel good about these forgettable performances if we lose. Zero identity or style of play to build on.
Watkins is really it and would be so good. Has pace to run in behind, physical, can score goals, oh and also great linkup play being the EPL’s top assister last season.
But he is not it is he Kane offers way more he ain’t the problem none of our attacking players are playing well just cuz Kane is a easy target everyone is blaming him honestly wake up
It will be the exact same team that starts Wednesday it’s a joke that team have done nothing it’s only when we have made substitutions that we have scored
You're absolutely right, Kane should be benched and used as impact sub if required. Also if we continue to play wing backs Trent must start. One of the best crossers of a ball in Europe.
in 1966 Ramsey dropped Greaves for Hurst in the knockout stages of the World Cup even though Greaves got over his earlier knock. It turned out well. How about starting Toney? He could be the difference between winning and losing.
As I said to my mum and fiancée, would it thought think about it this way would have Spain played their final against both Germany and France if we get through we might have half a chance but we need to do what mark says tactically
