I'm 83 and in 1955, I wasn't ready for Jackie Mac but I sure as hell am now. I can't seem to stop listening to this performance. Love this group and Sarah is always outstanding. Thanks for all your playing and doing, Emmet.

Wow what an energetic and well played performance. About half through the piece I was wondering how they can end this convincingly. And they did. Everybody knew where they were in the piece and were able to coordinate the accents til the end. ♥️

She has Jackie McLean's aggressive tone and take-no-prisoners approach. Very impressive and I'm thrilled to see such a talented person influenced by Jackie, who in many ways I've always seen as kind of the essence of jazz. I always thought that McLean shared Bud Powell's sense of agitated delirium - the opposite of cool players like Chet Baker, who I also love - different people are great in different ways.

I hear a bit of Coltrane, a bit of Cannonball Adderley, definitely a combination of both and a couple of others I'm not placing yet. This means she has her own sound, yet you hear the influences appear which means she's there in spirit of her biggest influences. Y'all just killing it, I can take a whole lot more of this!

You nailed it. But I would prefer if she would not take over the habit to stay hanging under the just intonation, and always play on the low side of the note. For mr McLean it was a forgivable habit, but should it be part of an imitation?

i’d suggest putting that drum mic above the cymbals, they sometimes get lost in these mixes and you might hear the whole kit a lot better👍

This is an _excellent_ suggestion! Your music is always great, but the sessions' mic-ing & balance fails to do justice to the musicians. Even in your small space -- & sans GoBo's -- it is possible to get much better definition for the separate instruments. Please _do_ listen, e.g., to "Rondo à la..." (on Time Out) and/or "Let me tell you 'bout..." (Leo Parker). Note the layers & "crispness"! ¶ Keep up these terrific releases: Appreciated! [me=pro. recording engr.w/gray beard]

In the era of social media more than ever you just don't have to play well only. You have to pay attention to your appearance and this lady doesn't care a bit about that for sure.
