Hi I have loved Legally Blonde for years and I’ve always loved Christian Borle as Emmett and I just decided to look for all of his adorable moments where he’s in love with Elle.
This is the best Emmett, the movie version just doesn't have that nerdy feel to him, he looks TOO perfect if you get me lol. This Emmett actually makes sense for the story n all. He's also the CUtEST Emmett imo.
A Anderson Christian Borle doesn’t seem like the type to do that. Besides, he and Sutton are still good friends, so I highly doubt that their relationship would be so easily salvaged if he had cheated.
one of my favorite parts about this show is that in the first song, when the girls all sing “‘cause we love you guys!” elle replies “no i love you guys!” already implying that warner wasn’t in it for love or anything. at the very end of the show, when the girls say the same thing, elle and emmett say “no WE love you guys!” rather than just elle herself. it’s a super small detail but it makes me smile
marlie cohen YES!!!!! I’ve always said this. It’s seriously so beautiful how it suddenly becomes not so self centered but really looking at the wider perspective.
i never noticed but at 5:43 elle was going to kiss him but then emmet saw warner and respected her enough to step back. About that little smile they give each other right after, it just screams that they both know she’s going to reject him.
I disagree. I think he didn't know what was going to happen. He tearfully confessed his love for her and begged her to stay and he got no clear response. She came back because Vivienne convinced her, not for him, and he must have been aware of that. He's late to court, which I personally take to mean he had no intention of going and then Vivienne called him up like "dude, she's coming back, we need you to kick Callaghan off the case" and he left so fast he left a person shaped hole in the wall. He doens't know where he stands I think that when he let her down he was being respectful of whatever feelings she might still have for Warren. Which I think is even better, because it shows he truly respect HER, whatever her choices might be, and he respects her decision and possible rejection without bitterness or resentment.
Late to the party here, but I also love that she still finds love. I hate the idea that a woman can only be strong if “she don’t need no man.” Yeah, that can be true, but falling in love doesn’t instantly make a well-developed, strong woman into a helpless, crybaby, damsel. Love doesn’t make you weak. The best types of love make you stronger as a person.
let’s talk about how broad christians acting is. gay jew with a dominance complex. british aristocrat with an ego higher than the clouds.. scruffy college guy who chases success and love. this man. is. talent. (edit: oh and let’s not forget his detective role 👀)
@@mirabellepeters3368 In the scene Elle is annoyed that Emmett is throwing all of her things away so she slams the bin back on the desk and he teases her about her being angry by saying "the room just got colder"
this scene always lowkey confused me cause 2 in one shampoo and conditioner is like known to be terrible, especially a hair stylist (my brain is dead and i’ve forgotten the real word for it) should know that???
I mean, I gotta say that my otp is the one where the blonde girl with a jerk boyfriend falls in love with the wimpy guy who grew up in the slums and is treated badly by his boss, and they find value in each other and themselves. You know, Audrey and Seymour from Little Shop Of Horrors.
5:50 I love this so much cause he looks at her with such confidence. "I'm gonna see you later" means that he knows she's not the same, love-struck girl she walked in as, she's a strong woman and knows that she knows it now.
When I was in Legally Blonde, everyone lost their shit at Emmett's "if you can hear, can I just say how much I want you to stay" because the actor would do this heartwrenching voice break. Especially the dude who played Warner. He collapsed on the ground multiple times at rehearsals and cried on stage in the last show during his proposal.
That line always, always tugs some heartstrings for me. Just so 💔 And Christian’s way of singing it here is so pure and gut wrenching I just love him as Emmet so much ❤️
Every single musical Christian Borle is is freaking great. Falsettos? I’m actually crying. Something Rotten? God, it’s so hard to be the bard! Legally Blonde? Illegally good. Not even counting the ones I haven’t listened to.
Still thinking about the fact that in “Take it like a man.” Elle said “Think of the guy you want most to be.” And the first think Emmett said when he came out of the changing room was “I look like Warner.” 🥹🥹🥹 he just wanted to be a man Elle loved 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I'm very traditional and usually for the man to propose, but my heart melted when I saw Elle propose to Emmett! It was so sweet and seeing him supporting her throughout everything made it even more perfect!
christian borle plays that ‘boyish love & adoration’ character SO well, im so in love with him. it’s the little glances and the closeness and the barely contained glee…christian you mean everything to me ugh
The “did you actually think I was gonna let you get away?” moment, is the musical theatre version of the pride and prejudice hand moment. I actually gasped
My favorite bit of background acting in the ENTIRE musical is Emmett's overwhelming heart eyes when she did the Bend and Snap. The second she did it I KNEW to look at him and I was not disappointed.
god I remember watching a bootleg of legally blonde and it was during early revisions of the show, so it was before they tweaked some things and finalized everything (for example- "positive" was a completely different song called "love and war," emmett actually runs after elle to paulette's salon after "legally blonde" to try and convince her to stay, there are a bunch* of different lyrics, etc.) but in this one, emmett is holding her arm and elle sings "emmett, please let me go" (but as in 'let her go and just forget about her') *closes door* "back to the sun, back to the shore-" and that one literally broke my heart.
@@ricecakedeer waIT I FOUND IT BUT IT'S ON ANOTHER SITE BUT IT'S A SAFE SITE. so the website isn't in english but the bootleg is. it's going to have random captions on the screen, but you can get rid of them. all you have to do is look directly below the screen's frame, and there will be two grey buttons. the one on the right when you hover the cursor over it will show you a box which seems to be the settings. the one on the left of that is what you click, the one that's highlighted a blue color. just click it and it will switch to grey, which will switch off the captions. @ 1:43:48 is when she says "please let me go" but sadly I think it was an even earlier version that I watched where he chased after her to the salon. but yeah, here it is lol. www.bilibili.com/video/BV1XE41127AA?from=search&seid=2681515493966685438&spm_id_from=333.337.0.0
My favorite tiny detail is when Elle says to Emmett "Why do you always have to be right?" when studying and later Emmett repeats the same line to her when they go shopping 😭
Me: I don't like Legally Blonde Me: I DON'T like Legally Blonde Me: It's not my style Me: I just...no- RU-vid: Christian Borle wa- Me: WELL IN THAT CASE I GUESS IT'S NOT TOO BAD
How to ask your gf to let you in Correct - "Please will you open the door." Incorrect - "VERONICA, open the, open the door please. Veronica, open the door!"
I love when Emmett tells Elle he's going to see her later when he sees Warner. To me, it's less about Emmett seeing that Elle has changed, and is more about seeing the benefits of the self-confidence Elle has given to Emmett. I'd imagine in the past, both before Elle and in the beginning of their friendship, Emmett would have looked at guys like Warner and felt inadequate, like he could never measure up. For one second, when he pulls away and acknowledges Warner, I feel like he's reverting to an old habit: Counting himself out when "guys like Warner" appear. But, he catches himself. He looks at Elle's face. Hr takes a deep breath, and very confidently says that he WILL see her later. He, maybe the first time in his life, feels like he can not only measure up to someone like Warner, but could potentially be chosen over them. That's Elle's work right there!
