Emmrods can cast as well as most any regular rods. For bait casting reels I get plenty of distance since the line is coming off a revolving spool. My usual line weights are 10 to 20lb mono mainly Momoi High Catch. For superlines we have used a number of them from 10 to 65lb test. Currently very pleased with Tuffline from Western Filament. With spinning it's a matter of spool to coil balance. The reel size ranges would be from 500 to 3000. In Canada used 700 series Daiwa , 1000 size Penn, and then for the top end an NLF 30 Qualia. We had it covered.
