Emmy, you mentioned that many products were hard and then became softer in your mouth. Maybe you discovered or somebody told you already, but many candy, gummy and chocolate products in Thailand are made with higher melting points because of the climate. When you take them back to colder countries they tend to be harder.
Before you take off the wrapper on the candy cigarettes you can blow on one end and a small puff of powder will come out of the other end of the stick. (Looks like you're smoking)

Most of things you eat, it comes from the traditional foods sold in public markets. Especially when you walk around seafood market eg. crispy calms, durian crisps and Krong Kraeng. They are packed in better packagings. For durian crisp, you can find it in a pot of kg. and you know that i used to eat it all at one time ! so delicious. For gum and sweets, i think the place you live are quite cool, so they turn to be harder than originally in Thailand. It's hot here and most of things get softer than you ate.
Yep, you're right. I totally agree with you. Some products are kind of Thai traditional foods. The producers only repackage the product in order to expand target market.
The first one is calls Party(ขนมปาร์ตี้) it have a lot flavor, banana, krong kang(name of thai snacks. it have a lot of Thai spices),caramel(original). The second one is retro sweets. Durian(ทุเรียน) is fruits have strong smell too, it has a lot of species, each species have different taste smell touch, monthong(หมอนทอง) is the one that popular.
I'm very surprise to see this video. The first one is called "Pa Tee",it's from the word 'party'. And yah! that flavor is so yummy, you should try the original flavor, it's sweet and soooo caramel. For the Cougar candy, its also my "always favorite" candy Senven Eleven. There are also have three more flavor which are chocolate, strawberry and yogurt. For Ovantine, you can eat like a snack I love to eat while I watch movie at home. It's is Ovantine in tablet form so easy to take it everywhere you go. The tamarind toffy is called "Jeed Jard" which called for something has sour flavor.
Thai snacks and food in-general contain a lot of sugar. Having worked and lived in Thailand for 20+ years, I returned to Canada for a holiday and was diagnosed as pre-diabetic, very close to being diabetic as my weight had increased without my checking it due to being a chef and constantly tasting food then going out and eating Thai food, which did not help the situation. Black Cat cigarettes was a well-known brand of REAL cigarettes in the UK. Durian if relatively fresh has no odour when opened. It develops the odour as it gets older within the casing. A durian contains 2-4 pieces of fruit and it has a fabulous custardy taste but does have a large seed in each piece of fruit. Makes great ice cream and other stuff. It is known as the "King of Fruits" and Durian chips, if lightly salted, go great with a cold one on a hot day but they do tend to be a trifle expensive as does Durian itself. The Ovaltine you ate were tablets, not cookies and should be either melted in the mouth or chewed as you did. Ovaltine came before Milo by 30 years. 'nuf sed.
Hi Emmy! I love your video. The Ovaltine tablets is my favorite! and they supposed to be better if you just put it in your mouth then it will start melting with out you biting them. Just like hard candy you don't bite them. And Don't put it into water either it will be really hard and not testy anymore. :D
Hello. Some of the snacks you ate, I haven't even try it even though I'm Thai hahaha. But I do love the Bento squid but I haven't eaten it for a long time. I gained weight because of Bento once then I stopped eating it. I love sunflower seed too. The one cover with chocolate is good too.
Love your video! The last one, Bento remains me of the times when I was little; I used to eat that along with cold water all the time hahah I was kinda like to tortured myself I guess ;p

We do get some Thai Pretz here in our Chinese supermarkets, so I'll be keeping my eye out of those :) Just wondering, do the Ovaltine candies have faces on them? Because in Australia (at least when I was growing up) they do :D I love sunflower seeds so I'd definitely love them coated in the red stuff :) The chewy tamarind candies also sound SO cool to try :D Will try them if/when I go to Thailand :D

Im Thai and Im gonna start ranting becuz i miss these snacks so much! the first one...i love it. omg T^T i miss it so much. the brand is "Party" the original flavour of that particular uh.. chips (?) is like sweet. and this one is supposed to imitate the flavour of a thai snack called krongkrang which kinda tastes like that. but yeaa the gum cigarettes now are pretty rare. you have to go to particular places to find them. when I was younger I wud be pretending to smoke cigarettes with those allll thhhee timmmee. the durian chips. URGHHHH *_* and larb flavoured pretz OMG ITS SO YUMMY! Larb is a "salad" dish. but it has a lot of meat in it seasoned with like fish sauce, lime, basil, mint, roasted rice powder and chili powder. MY FAVE. your face when you ate the clams was priceless. >< the tablet ovaltine im assuming that they made it like that becuz kids like to eat ovaltine powder on its own. at least I did it when i was younger the packaging of sunsnack is that small becuz its a "break snack" I remember in the advertisement you rip off a corner and knock it back into your mouth directing from the package. I loved that thing lol the bento squid sheet, I still find it too spicy to this day haahah but thats becuz when i eat it I eat it half a sheet at the time

Have you ever had Sweet Thai Chili Sauce Emmy? Oh my. I LOVE that stuff! It has wonderful bits of peppers and things in it. It is a beautiful sort of golden color. Not too hot not too sweet. Yum! That is my "sriracha". I don't like the real stuff lol. Awesome video. TY Emmy!😍
Give you some more information about some of Thai dishes At first I've to admit that Thai people are addicted to sweet taste, so in order to catch the market all the dishes are some what more sweet than what you normally have in your country(Except you like your food to be very sweet). You wonder why? because Thai people are not strictly to the chef taste. Most of the restaurants have the basic seasoning which are fish sauce, chilli powder, clear vinegar, and sugar!. Krong Kang (you've got the correct sound of it) is a kind of snack which not a sweet treat, original version is look like the fried gnocchi(ltalian dish) deep fried then coated with the spice, so the flavor is sweet and salty(by the fish sauce) but you could smell and taste heavy flavor from the spices e.g. corrianda's root and pepper. Ps. the sweetness come from coconut sugar. We have it for coffee break snack before dinner, like tea time treats. Larb is a dish origanated from North and E-San(North-East part of Thailand). They also have slightly diffrent cooking recipe and flavor but look nearly the same. Larb is actually a minced pork spicy salad but you could have the combination of Sour Spicy and Salty with the great smell of the pan roasted rice powder and Sa-ra-nair which is Thai's peppermint leaves. We have it with sticky rice(and other dishes). Crispy clams are going well with the boiled rice too! Bento Squid snack, my friend used to put that in a freezer for a while, made it crispy. Hey, I'm from Los Angeles, CA. Not sure if those are the same kind of candy cigarettes I used to get off the ice cream truck when I was little, but if they are, before you peel the paper off you blow on the stick and the powder under the paper comes out the end resembling "smoke". They were really fun, we can't find them anywhere anymore.
Durian resembles Soursop or Guanaba! They must be of the same species or something, but they look different but have thesame spiky feature. I'm Jamaican and we use it in juices but it can be eaten in its original form. Its delicious , tangy, sweet, tropical !
next is "Ovaltine" it is the old snack in thai too. when i love to eat until now ^^ cause the flavor is sweet and the same like ovaltine. "sun snack" the good choice for who want to eat snack but they want the nutrien too there are many kind of this too. i can't count how much threr are but sometime they have the wire flavor like chocolate eith bacon, peking duck,wasabi and the advertise are so cool.
Emmy, I found your videos while staying in a hotel after my house burned down earlier this month. It was hard to get a decent internet connection in the hotel, but I could still watch youtube videos (just barely) while I waited for the insurance company to move me to a rental house. My subscriptions weren't uploading enough stuff for me to watch, but I found your channel and watched like 50 of your food/candy videos to pass time. Thank you for helping me survive my 2 weeks at the hotel.
next is "Jeed Jaad" and i never try it.they like to make the snack of tamarid like tamarid with plum, spicy tamarid.it can help you when you drive and you feel sleepy hahaha.The last on is "Bento" oh I love love love love love this snack very much >< my friend tell me to eat with pepsi when it cold and it will crispy and don't spicy. i wouldnt call korean seaweed 'nori'. it isn't like japanese snacks. its called 'gim' or 'kim' like in 'kimchi', and usually eaten with rice or meals, not on its own :) just thought you might want to clear it up as they are not the same thing! thanks!

Just chew the whole gum bar. As it is a gum, the part inside our mouth would be soften after a few chewing. Then we can push the whole bar (with our finger) to our mouth.
