Man I'm so glad he said "I don't want to be ranked at all, I just want to be a good player." Hope he keeps that mindset! Just let this kid be a good kid and develop! Always remember you don't get drafted for being the #1 thirteen year old. You get drafted for being the best when you are 19-20!!
I met Emoni Bates at a basketball camp in Maryland, but I didn't see him play because his team had finished playing already. I stopped him and asked him if his team was playing another game and he said "No." This kid is 6'5" tall. I asked how old he was, and I was floored when he said "12"! I asked him his name and he told me, and I said "I'm going to keep my eye out for you because I know you're going to be great". He's such a nice kid too. Kudos to his mom, family members and host of friends who continue to support and encourage him, and other kids like him. It truly takes a village. We have so many talented male and female basketball players. Many of them are great students too, so please don't think that all they can do is play basketball. Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan and several other states are known for having great basketball players, and citizens. God bless them all and all the wonderful teachers, coaches and personal trainers who help them along the way.
I'm very hesitant to put pressure on a child, but I grew up my entire life playing AAU Basketball and playing for the number one ranked boys high school basketball team in the Country. This dude Emoni Bates is not only the best 8th grader I have ever seen in my life, but at thirteen this young fella is more skilled than Zion Williamson a top 3 player going to Duke. Actually, if Emoni was a senior right now, he would be a top 10 recruit with his current skillset at 13 years old. Emoni is not as physically developed as Zion yet, but his ability at 13 years old and 6'7" tall is mind boggling. MOST PLAYERS IN COLLEGE OR THE PROS DO NOT HAVE SUCH A WIDE RANGE OF SKILLS. THIS DUDE IS A PHENOMENAL BALL HANDLER, GREAT JUMP SHOOTER FROM DEEP OR MID-RANGE, GREAT PASSER AND CAN GET TO THE BASKET FROM ANYWHERE ON THE COURT. THIS IS VERY SCARY TO WATCH A TEEN SO SO VERY YOUNG BECOME THE NEXT GREAT THING...AND THERE IS NO QUESTION OR ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER THAT THIS GUY, EMONI BATES, WILL BE A BONAFIDE SUPERSTAR AND PROBABLY THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA ONE DAY. ITS A BOLD PREDICTION, BUT UNLESS THIS YOUNG GUY JUST STOPS WORKING, HE'S A CANT MISS ALL STAR IN THE NBA BY HIS 2ND YEAR...FACTS !! ...WOW !
How can i make it to camps like these bro pls give me some tips if you can. I'm 5'7 in 7th grade i can dunk im the best player in my school i start for the team in my school and im just looking to get some exposure and im from NY contact e if you can pls
Im late, this guy is lookin like a young penny hardaway out there..haha over the years he will probably end up playing the sf/pf like KD cause he's so long but his potential is through the roof..
I always wonder what kind of jobs these kids parents have to be able to train them and be taking them to all there camps and to tournaments.cause my parents work 12 hours a day
Well to be fair, he is young and I'm betting he recently hit a growth spurt to get that height, so to support that new weight his muscles need a chance to develop some more.
If anybody thinks he's only good bc he's tall, think again. He's a lights out shooter and has handles. Height does make a difference and u can't rlly control it, so some ppl are just more lucky than others. My brother is 6 inches taller than me and I'm better than him at basketball but he just backs me up in 1v1's and cooks me
Ryan 870 that's the type of stuff that motivates him people like you. You hating on a 7th grader that's has potential! Man just imagine how good he is gonna be his senior year. Keep grinding bro💯💪🏾
If you honestly think this 7th grade basketball player is good you need help. I am in 7th grade average 22p 12a 7r per game and I have no highlight reel! This kid is nothing compared to some of us who are trying to get our name know!
FlashyStache's Gaming there are kids that are nasty, but he's cold. He's actually dirty, you try playing against a kid who's 6'6 that can shoot, dribble, get in the paint, and just score. Shut up. Try playing in the EYBL and those stats will go down boy.
Actually last year he was kind of a twat. Didn’t play for the school because they wouldn’t give him the coach he wanted. Yes, I went to school with him
