For sure, Butter is so broken-hearted right now... To dogs, we are their whole world, even though for us humans, our pets are just part of our lives. I hope you will be reunited with Butter the soonest time possible. Dogs do not have a long life span compared to us humans. I deeply regretted it not taking my beloved dog with me when I migrated to Europe many years ago. I left her with my family. She got sick and died when she was miles away from me. It is one of the biggest regrets of my life. The grief is neverending.

Aside from missing Butter, being emotional is also part of spiritual awakening. Happy birthday, Bret! 🧿✨

I feel you very much, Brett. I can feel and see the sadness in your eyes. Today, my husband and I were in the middle of taking our Christmas pictures, when all of the sudden we were both hit with overwhelming sadness as we thought of our beloved fur baby who just passed last October. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge 3-days after we celebrated her 14th birthday. This would be our first time celebrating Christmas without her. It feels unreal but we know that her spirit is with us always. But, life must go on, right? We know that we will see her again and be reunited one day. I hear what you are saying about not wanting to FaceTime with her and I understand your reasons, but I also feel like it would do you and Butter good if she hears your voice and you see/talk to her. Hearing your voice will give her hope knowing that you are STILL around and that you didn’t gave up on her. It will give her that HOPE that she will see you again. HOPE is the most powerful thing you can give someone. Especially, if you are that someone's whole world. And I know YOU ARE Butter's whole world! Anyway, my heart goes out to you and Butter. Do YOU. Dear Bret, I totally get you... while watching this I cried and cried. Because like you I miss my two furry friends. They're no longer with me. One had passed away a year ago because of old age but the 2nd I had to put to sleep because of an incurable disease last June. My heart aches every time I think of them. I miss them so, so much. For your peace of mind and your mental health face time your mom so Butter can see and hear your voice to let her know you are still around and have not abandoned her. As humans we have our life, family and circle of friends but dogs only have us. They watch us leave the house and wait patiently for us to return. We are their world. Much as she is being cared well by your mom to Butter it is not the same. Perhaps you can return to Texada and spend New Year with your mom and grandparents and be reunited with Butter. She will go crazy! Then return to Cateel with Butter in tow. I know the thought of the long hours of travel and being relegated in cargo makes you cringe but she had done it before. She will love running in the beach and being friends with Kumar’s dogs. Don’t leave her too long in Texada Bret. They are only with us for such a short period of time. As you said make each day count like it’s your last day….no regrets.
