As a child, I decided to take my dog for a walk one summer day. I did not realize how hot it was. My dog laid down on the trail and was not himself. I was alone at the time, picked all 25 pounds of him up and ran back home. I still have no idea how I was able to run back so fast with him. Thankfully he was better with a cool bath, but I was very fortunate. My heart breaks for this dog and his family.

Take this as a reminder that vets are doing everything they can to help your beloved animal to get better. It is so heartbreaking to see how high the quitting/suicidal rate is with Vets :/

Sobbing. Literally sobbing. Makes me think of my Golden Boy. He looks exactly like this one. I could not imagine losing him. This is just so hard! I can’t even finish this episode, literally. I always be sure he’s cool outside. He has his own pool, we have water for him even on walks. We stay inside when it’s too hot. This was eye opening, that’s for sure.

I just cried and cried and i am a grown man not ashamed to say that. Dogs are just innocent free spirits and this is so devastating for the owners. It is hard to adopt another dog after this much trauma. I feel so sorry for the owners. I always played in the summer in the park in American South with my GSD and never imagined something like this could happen. My GSD was my best buddy and died 2 years ago and I just think of going through the trauma when they die. They are worth more than their weight in gold.

This is so heartbreaking. Sorry to the family for their loss. This is a reminder to everybody to be careful to not let your animals get too hot. They have fur and run a lot hotter than we do. I was hoping for a good outcome for this beautiful family as you can tell they really loved their dog. I hope they forgive themselves because if they had known, they would not have let this happen to their dog. 💔

It’s crazy how that kind of thing happens in an instant… I was on the verge of tears while watching this, heart wrenching. I can’t imagine losing my baby like this, but it can happen to anyone and we can’t always prevent it. Sometimes it can be on a day you would think isn’t even that hot. I do my best to keep my baby cool when we go outside and it’s hot. I pour water over her or wet her groin and ears multiple times, give her water to drink… despite all of that, we’re never 100% safe

I know how helpless you feel in these moments. Hate to relive the day my dog passed away in 2013. When we adopted her, we knew that we had limited time with her but was never ready to depart from her during her final moments. My whole family literally cried the entire night. Wished I never had to see her die infront of me and could keep her forever😭😭😭😭

This is possibly the saddest thing I have ever seen in my life😭as a 17 year old with two very lovely dogs i would do anything in my power to keep them safe from something this awful

Thank you for posting this very sad and emotional video. I am sure that the owners of the doggie would have given permission for this video to be posted in the hope of educating others (me included) and potentially saving the lives of other dogs.

It’s hard to lose a dog they just understand you so much and when the die it’s like the end of the world

I can feel this for these owners. I cried looking at this video as I lost our pitbull just a few months ago to cancer. I remembered him being perfectly fine a Saturday, we slept like normal and on Sunday morning when we woke up and went outside to see our dog, he had this massive inflamed solid lump that formed just above his groin. He was in so much pain for the next three days but during that time we took him to the vet and was exploring all possible options to save him through surgery. Unfortunately, when we prepped and took him back to the vet on Wednesday, the vet began analyzing him and realized that the cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes and legs and would have continued spreading. Our dog was noticeably getting weaker as well. Right there and then as a family, we had no choice but to make a decision to put him to sleep. We brought him back home, said his rights, and buried him in our yard. That devastated me so much that I had to apply for the rest of the week off from work using my annual leave. I still miss him so much up to this day and I know what it feels like to be helpless watching your beloved pet suffer right before your very eyes and there is little you can do. My prayers and strength go out to these owners.

Thank you for what you did. I had my 13 year old Golden put down last week and I’m still so sad but the staff was so amazing and professional. this is really a sad news, i can't imagine what the owners felt right now. the guilt and sadness. thanks for showing this video as a great reminder to all the animals owners as we now live in this driven climate change weather were heat wave is getting "normal".

I always bring a bowl and water with me when i take either my dog or my client's dogs out in the summer. If it's really really hot out i don't let them out for more than 15 minutes at a time and don't let them get hyped up. Once it cools a bit in the evening i will let them play normally and then make them stop and settle down once they show signs of tiring out

The vet should have told them not to walk their dog in the heat. He lost his life because of them. Telling them look don't worry we see it all the time isn't good enough. We all know now the dangers. Rest in peace sweetheart. I am so sorry you suffered. 🐕❤️🐾💔

Thankyou for this story even though it is so very sad. We are in Ontario Canada and the temp today was in the low 90's. Our young Border Collie loves it outside but today she was only out for an hour and then brought into our house. A few hours later, back out for the evening after it had clouded over and dropped way back into the 80's. We are very careful with her exposure to heat and I am so relieved that we are. Fortunately we have lots of trees and shade. The information in this program is invaluable. So sorry to the the family who lost their beautiful boy...

I just don't get why if they were trying to cool him down - why was he covered in blankets and not had some kind of cooling bath straight away at the vets - i mean obv im missing something - but thats quite confusing - i know he was on meds to cool him down as well but still - i dont get it?

So sad that this young dog lost it's life because of doing something he loved to do. When our puppies are outside on a hot day, we have a little doggie pool for them, an outdoor fan in the run and a shade cover. 90% of the time, they are in their pool.

Ive never walk my dog when summer hits I rather buy kiddie pool for my doggo to cool them down 😊

Shouldn’t the hospital / Vet have been surrounding him with ice packs or even put him in a cold bath when he first came in so they could lower his internal body temperature?

I can't contained my emotion while I was watching this from beginning until the end 😭 Rest in peace Fatti 🙏 This is what I am always afraid of to happen on my dog. At where I live, outside or inside house occasionally goes beyond 40°C during the day for almost everyday. I'm not a well off person so I can't afford A/C and paying extra bills for it. I can only provide my dog a blowing fan, and to wipe her body with wet warm towel (an hourly basis), enough to keep her cooled down. I hope I am doing it right.

i feel so bad for the owners i know how they feel because I'm only 13 and remember it's the night of Australia Day my dog was completely fine playing and everything then the next day I saw him have a heart attack right in front of my eyes are still remember that day like it was yesterday

Losing a pet is never easy. I had to put mine down December 30, 2021 and it was beyond hard to do. When the vet was talking to me about everything and then administering the medicine she told me my dog held on because the moment she gave it too her she was already gone. I cried when they wheeled her away and cried in my dads arms, it hurt because that was my baby but I felt better knowing she was on the other side of the rainbow running free in the fields above. RIP too him and I’m so sorry to his family having to go through that

This was really tough to watch. My 7-year-old, 85-pound mix, Skeeter, had suffered ten seizures three days ago. I watched all the pertinent videos and ascertained that Skeeter could go through all the prescribed procedures and still not make it. He's on his third day of not being able to run along with my e-bike. The first day, he didn't exhibit his normal anxiety while waiting for me to get ready to go. Today, he's showing some interest in running (I go 5mph, so he walks most all the time), but not 100%. I'm monitoring nearly his every move. He's still periodically experiencing the palsied headshake, but otherwise has returned to his normal, lifted spirit and displays ample energy..

The vets did absolutely nothing to bring the body temperature down, he needed to be cooled off, by a Luke warm bath then an ice bath….sickening

This is a perfect example of Small Mistakes Can Have Huge Consequences.
