Probably, that was the reason he was not invited to pledge allegiance to his father. They didn't want to force him to do what he doesn't like. He chose to leave his royal duties. According to him, the duties are outdated and archaic. He is enjoying non royal life with his wife. They are big celebrities in the US.
You could see the emotion on King Charles' face...made my eyes mist! At least the King has one loyal and truly wonderful son and daughter-in-law! Not to mention those 3 adorable grandchildren!

@L Jo both King Charles and Prince William had a pact not to look at each other because Charles was afraid he'd get too emotional. He looks to be very near to tears as it is. They both knew what they were and I have no doubt at all, William would have said it without reading it. He's a very competent public speaker. He helped his father keep his composure.

William came to know his mother as a human being with many lovely qualities and some not so much. He knows personally that his parents had a better friendship after the divorce. Diana was not perfect, KCIII was not perfect. One son did NOT want to keep reliving the past, one did. WE need to put the past behind us and move on. I’m so proud of Prince William for honoring his father and the privileged life he has been given. His father really needed that kiss from him 😊 I think William will make a great king one day. He’s intelligent, humble, integritous, and has always been very mature from an early age.
His mom did such a good job in raising him to see what it IS like for real people with life/health problems, being very poor and underprivileged. I think that was a blessing, actually.

What was truly touching was the moment when the King said, “Thank you William.” At that moment I think everyone saw the genuine love between the two. Thank goodness William was born first. He WILL continue to support the Monarch in the way he should be by a son. ❤

I was ready to pledge my allegiance... after preparing all the food and decorating my home for my Swedish child to take in all that her mother's British Monarchy has to offer. I was SO proud, so choked up at the kiss from Pince William, and it moved Charles. That was blatantly obvious. I do not doubt that Harry is somewhat regretting his decision to stay away.
