Tasha, I am a 60 year old man and this too is my favorite song of all time. It has special meaning to me and my eyes water as I listen to it these many years now. I remember well the early afternoon in August of 1980 when my parents dropped me off at my university dorm and they helped me move in my things and clothes. Things were moving too fast for me. As I looked at my mother she would look at me and smile and whisper to me, "its going to be alright", the way only a mother can reassure her child. As she put my things away and they were leaving, dad said I have one more thing for you son and he went out to the pick up and brought me a brand new radio. As we hugged and said our goodbyes I saw them pull away and disappear in the distance. I went back into my room, laid belly down on my bed and looked out the window and turn on the radio, the song that started was, yes, you guess it, "Sailing". My eyes started to water and all I could see was my mother saying to me, "Its going to be alright". After all these many years, this song is still my favorite song of all time. RIP mom and dad.

Man, This had me tearing up…When I was a young kid, my mother, now deceased, used to have an old Chevy with a manual transmission shift on the steering column. She would drive the HELL out of that car. My mom would listen to country music stations only in her car. This song would come on often and she would crank it up while we’re flying down the highway with the windows down. This is really making me miss her so much. Great memory.

I remember hearing this song on the radio and being mesmerized when I was a little kid. Cristopher Cross' voice is so unique and beautiful. In interviews Cristopher Cross talks about "sailing" being a metaphor for art and creativity (drawing, sculpture, painting, music, film making, etc.) that sets us free. Transcendent beauty takes us to another...higher place. We are closest to The Creator when we are creating and enjoying creativity. Great reaction. 🙂

I'm old enough to have heard this song when it first came out but what solidified my love for it was that it was a song piped into my earphones on my first airplane trip when I was 18. I was traveling across the country on an adventure with my best friend. It was the late 70's, almost 80's. I wasn't from a well off family so airplane travel was not something we did. The song comforted me as I was sailing way above the clouds over 30,000 feet, a little scared but excited. It will always be an innocent song of adventure, that comforted me. Much older me, today. I am a very, very nervous flyer. If they'd pipe this through my earphones, maybe I'd be okay.

When this song came out I remember being with some friends away on vacation and so it’s always been connected to those people back in that time. One of them passed away a year ago and it’s still something that ties into remembering her and that moment in time and our friendship and how far we all drift as we get older.

Well it’s a beautiful song and that’s what’s beautiful about music, it’s colorless and brings out the soul. Wonderful.

Love the song and it always reminds me of another favorite by artist Al Stewart called “Time Passages” from 1978

Truly an amazing song that takes you back to a peaceful and calming place....like San Diego...what a gift from Christopher Cross who also had some amazing musicians on this album with other great songs ...

Very moving. Takes me back decades to better times. One of my favourite albums. Still have the original I bought when I was a teen. Thank you for covering it.

Such a great song, on an even greater album. Brings me back to my Navy days, on the bridge in calm seas, at sunset... beautiful. .

This song was a hit in the UK in 1980-81. I was 13. 😂. This song has stayed with me forever. Beautiful ♥️ choice. Love your videos. Best regards from Glasgow Scotland UK.

Very underrated musician! Chris Cross is really, really good. Can really play guitar, too. I, too, absolutely LOVE this song! I'm both a sailor and retired Navy, but this reminds me of the very first time I was sailing...it was the most magical thing I eve experienced.

The first time I heard this song, models for a fashion show were practicing for an event we were hosting. I instantly fell in love with it! Also, the song went great with the models walking down the runway! I also played hundreds of times with the top down in my Fiat sypder covertible. Oh yeah!!!

I remember hearing this song and even at the time when it was popular it felt nostalgic. It's sentimental and sung sincerely

Wish I could give this song 10 thumbs up. I bought the album as soon as I heard this on the radio years ago. What a talent.
