An emotional conclusion to a hard fought two year journey and goal to complete a half marathon for Mom. If you've been with us a for a while you know Mindy set a goal to get into running and to complete a half marathon. At the time we all thought she was crazy because she hadn't run a day in her life and gets winded walking back from the mailbox. But she was determined. Like with most things she sets her mind to there was no stopping her once she got started. Except that she kept getting injured. Blisters, foot arch problems, knee and ankle injuries, the works. She missed her planned half marathon date and at one point it looked like she would never complete this goal.
Fast forward two years and a lot of running, determination, grit and no quit later and Mindy secretly set out on a mission to complete her 13.1 miles half marathon with her fitness and motivation coach Sara. They started their run at the same place she was injured two years ago brining her dreams of completing a half to a crushing halt. At about eight miles into the run she told Sara, I want to finish the half today.
The final few miles were harder than she ever imagined and she was overcome with emotion when she realized she had pushed through and completed her goal, two years in the making! We are proud of Mom for trying new things, for setting goals and not letting anything keep her from accomplishing them, for pushing through pain and showing us all that not only is your best enough, but sometimes your best is better than you ever imagined!
