so the marantz powers the front 3? Is that just by choice or is that the common way to do it? Im not too familiar with separates so I thought the more powerful amp would be better for the more powerful front speakers and the receiver powering the surrounds
Really how so? I have the Denon X4700h with a 5.2.4 set up. 4 heights and It sounds awesome now, just trying to figure out what the difference would be in sound quality.
You answered my questions right off the bat, was thinking of buying the a-500 but after your review which I thrust am looking elsewhere like one of my favorite external power amps ROTEL. Thanks.
I use a A700 to drive 6 SVS Prime Elevation, 4 atmos and 2 Surround back. Works great. I probably will get a xpa gen 3 five channel Emotiva to drive my 5 SVS Ultra channels later on. And with Arcam and Dirac the sound is amazing. Keep up the good work Shane!
I have 2 A700 amps, and a yammy rx-a3070 running 7.2.4 on tannoy mercury 7.2 plus tannoy centre speaker and x2 tannoy ts2 10s. It's all about matching your amplifier power with your speakers and speaker sensitivity. RMS matching and amplifier headroom = common sense.
As always a great informative video, one thing that shocked me was the "the one receiver I have on hand the Maranitz", with the amount of reviews and stuff you been doing lately I thought you had a room full of stuff to use.
Sir, I have marantz sr 7013 Klipsch r 620f-2 Klipsch r 51 m-4(side and back) Klipsch r 52 C-1 Klipsch 41 SA Dolby atmos Klipsch r 120sw Now my question: May I use Basx a 500 for front tower and back surround?
I use the A500 to power my LCR. It does a great job relieving my Denon of having to power all of my 7.2.4 system. It really doesn’t make the front stage louder, it just sounds better, clearer and the dynamics’s are much better. Would it sound even better with a Rotel or a Parasound or even a Outlaw? Yes it probably would. But in my HT which is 18’x18’x9’ it fills the room with great sound.
What mode of Denon AVR do you have? I'm looking at getting the AVRX3500H along with the A-500. I will be putting my LCR on the A-500 just like you did.
@@Stenlius I am using DefTech BP9060 and a CS9060 center. But now I use a Emotiva 2 channel for my L&R and a Outlaw 500 to power my center and 2 side surrounds and 2 rear surrounds, a Emotiva A 500 to power my 4 Atmos ceiling speakers. I run all this with a Denon 4700 using the Pre Amp mode.
Hello everyone, very good channel, well produced and easy to understand .. I like it !!! .. I have a question ? buy Emotiva BasX A-700 (only 4 channels used, 2 pair Dolby Atmos front and back) now I have 3 free channels .. these 3 channels, can I use them for front left, center, front right? or use them for surround back speakers? What do you think, the 7 channels or just 4 like now? to get better from the amp?
I was going to get a couple of the latest amps from the Emotiva BasX line, but I looked at their specs and they don't handle 4ohm loads very well. I plan to go with Outlaw instead.
Just bought one to run my center and front left and right NHTs. Hope I get an improvement. I have a Denon AVR-S960 which is only 90w x 7 so it needs some help.
Great video! Would adding one of these to a marantz 6013 just for the front 3 speakers be worth it? Also would you say these amps have a warm, neutral or bright sound to them?
Hi Shane appreciate your efforts love your channel I’ve been Lucky to own the 7 channel bass x for 2 years now and agree with your thoughts I run them with the mk mp150 in an Atmos setup it was an upgrade from a receiver definitely a big improvement but as always most equipment have their weaknesses although it imaged fairly well lacked fast impact and lacked separation for stereo music although I still own it have upgraded the L+R to a 20 year old music fidelity hybrid tube amp, If I had the funds would upgrade to something with allot more power the M&k just lap up watts.
I'm wondering, have you considered a blind listening test? You may be surprised! Try it with a Crown 1502 vs your "big" Rotel and see what a "little" can do and sound like.
My current 5.1 audio setup is driven by a Yamaha RXV1085 AV receiver. Since I’d like to get a little more power from it, I’m looking at adding an external five-channel amp: Emotiva BasX A-5175 . Here’s my question: If I connect an external amp to my Yamaha receiver, would I need to re-run room correction again?
I'm a fan of this videos, many solutions .. questions ? How can I have a Dolby atmos sound, more immersive ... with what I have .. in audyssey calibration I put the crossover center 40HZ, front 60hz, surround 90hz, surround back 80HZ, dolby atmos 80HZ, and subwoofer both 120HZ .. (I read 80hz all) I want opinions .. and tone center - 9.5 DB, front - 6.5 db, surround -5.0 db, dolby Atmos - 3.0 db .. lowering the tone (+ or -) db increases the volume, this could affect the quality of the sound? I have a Denon AVR-X3700H powering a 7.1.2 setup, I was thinking of getting the Basx a-500 to expand to 7.1.4 and letting the Basx power the 4 atmos, but I could also use the Basx to power the front stage and let the Denon power the rest, but I don't know which would make the front stage sound better, the AVR-X3700H or the BASX A-500?
In most cases when given the option, its best to power your front channels with a separate amp... since the fronts can always benefit from the additional power/headroom (the front 3 channels are the main output/load demanding channels of any surround system) the surrounds arent as demanding of channel loads, so they tend to be much easier for an avr to comfortably handle. I've got the Denon X3400H and plan to get the basx-500 to power my front soundstage.
@@TysonHook-22- How was it compared to your Denon? I've got a Denon X3600H and just the 3 frontage channels. Can the Denon handle the frontage on its own, when playing loud or would external amplification be needed?
@@busterboy7507 I never actually got a separate amp, I picked up a 2nd SVS SB1000 sub last year instead during the final clearance sales as the new sub models released. For my uses in a small apartment my Denon has absolutely no issues of powering my 5.2 setup. L/R - LS50s, C/Surrounds - Kef Q100s, dual SVS SB1000s. I still want to try a separate amp eventually as it will likely bring a little extra out of my LS50s but in reality I've never experienced any issues with the Denon that would make purchasing a sep. amp a true need of mine, more then just something I want. LS50s are notoriously hard to drive but the Denon has had no power issues whether watching movies in surround or music in stereo w/subs... The Denon X 3400H packs a solid punch and hasn't let me down in any way over the 2-3 years I've owned it... My first AVR, a Denon E300 I still use to this day to power a 3 channel setup. You shouldnt have any issues running a 3ch setup with the 3600H, what are the speakers your pairing with your Denon?
I have a 7.2.4 the A500 powering my bed layers(5 out of 7) my Denon X4700h powering the other 6(SBR SBL & 4 atmos). This system is awesome. My A7 is on the way so I can go 100% pre out mode
SpareChange Ut Oh, I sense that you like the outlaw amps better. I actually had a $275 credit for a broken receiver from Emotiva and that is why I got the A-700.
@@bladuteodorescu did you eventually buy a power amp? I have the same front stage as yours and I assume that I need some extra power to drive them better...
Hey everyone. Does it makes sense to get one a500 for my Denon x4500h for better sound? I think the difference in Watts per Channel is not that big. Thanks
@@meonk123 When I hooked up my BasX 5175 to my Onkyo TX RZ 1100 ( LCR ) I heard the difference but it didn't blow me away. I then changed the crossover for the fronts towers from 80hz down to 50hz and the difference was STAGGERING...It was as though I'd purchased an entirely new system. The power from your Denon will also affect the performance of the amplifier. Some people will hook up a cheap receiver to an amplifier and expect miracles.
Hmm was thinking of an a-500 or 700 to use with my Yamaha RX-A3070. So I can have a solid horizontal plane base layer and get my rear heights back in the loop as I've run out of on board amplification (have a 7.2.4 setup)
Yes you’ll get a bit more punch with these amps. I think the 8012 only puts around 95 watts per channels with all channels driven. These are 150 per channel.
Does anybody why my Sony 4K player says that all movies are Dolby vision when their not, for example it gives me Dolby vision picture options on my tv even though Logan isn’t Dolby vision
Your right to a point. These are marginally better than some receivers not all. These are useful if you want to take some load of your receiver or need to power additional speakers like height channels.
Well, I had an Onkyo TX-NR828, with decent power ratings. Added a BasX A300 for the main channels, and those became clearer. Then added the A700 for the center, surrounds and heights (and a 2nd zone), and it was better again. The Onkyo in its time was better fidelity than the Denon before it.
