I bought the Emotiva x-500 it’s great amps for the price and build very well, I’m using it to my front stage I love it !! Thank you for your knowledge.
Just installed an A-700 this morning for my 2 rear surrounds and my 4 ATMOS speakers. Can't wait to test it out! Thanks for the video review of the BasX line
Very solid amplifier. Heard one at a dealer and ended up buying the MC-700 processor and A-5175 (one step up in the same line) amplifier. I bought it all after hearing how the A-500 did with a pair of Goldenear towers. Great sound quality.
Excellent review my dude!! I’m considering this very amp for a future system integration. Seen you pop up a few times now in review searches, so... consider yourself subbed now! Great job and please keep doing you
Home Theater Hobbyist I have some older Klipsch Synergy speakers which do the job well for now. Running them with a Denon AVR-X4400H in 5.2.4 surround. My living room is not an ideal room for home theater but I do like how it’s come out so far. Would love to use a separate for the lower 5 speakers and run the height channels off the receiver
Have my subscription. Literally the easiest and most straightforward review of this amp I have seen. Thank you! I also had a question: if I use only 3 speaker channels of this to power 3 4-Ohm speakers in an LCR config, (leaving the surrounds and atmos speakers with my Denon x3400h) would the unused power be shared across the 3 channels? On another note, would you recommend getting a stereo amp and having the receiver power the center speaker as well as the surrounds and atmos? I have a sub crossed at 80 ohms.
great video.i run both 300 and 500. 300 for left and right,500 for center ,left and right and rear surrounds.and the denon 4400 picks up the front and rear high channels.both amps about a year old no issues at all and there stacked on top of each other.never get hot and the denon runs way cooler now.this has all the power ill ever need.plus 2pb 2000 it rocks.
@@balkarcanbul3396 ok they are 4 and 6 ohm speaker the A500 give you 190 watts RMS per channel; 1 kHz; THD < 1%; into 4 Ohms. `1 ch driven so you will have plenty of power but with the 5175 its a step on, if you can go with the 5175 ill go with this one!
Great review. I am using the A500 to run my LCR. But I do believe it’s 110 w per channel at two channels driven. At least that’s what my manual says. It definitely does sound better with the A500 and on the plus side my Denon runs much cooler. Also I have had no problems with my A500. But if you do have problem be sure you save the boxes it comes in.Emotiva requires that you have the boxes to ship it.
Excellent dead-on accurate review of the A500. My first seperates were the purchase of an Emotiva MC-700 Processor & the A500 Amp last year, my speaker system is a pair of Polk R50 Towers I bought for $79 ea 15 years ago for my front right and left, I've got a Polk cs 10 center channel & Polk TSI 100's for the surrounds. -oh, and a Velodyne 10" Sub. I've been through several Onkyo receivers over the past decade-mainly one I purchased in 2010 for $800 new and blew out-no sound-after 3 years, just out of warranty, Onkyo was making exceptions and repairing them, but reports were the issue was recurring-so I left my 3 year old receiver on the curb for the scavengers to pick up on bulk collection day rather than be troubled with it. I got by for several years on a cheap ~$150 Onkyo 313 5.1 receiver-it was passable-but not much of a joy to listen to for music as it compressed everything. Completely different story with the A500 though, my Polks are singing for all their worth, wide open sound field, and power, oh power that seems effortless and almost limitless-well going deaf if you want it any louder. I'll never own an all in one receiver again and don't expect my emotivas will need replacement for a long long time.
I first found your channel when I bought my Monoprice sub. Your review of that was spot on, it does sub bass but is lacking the mid bass a bit. Thanks for reliable information. I have a a-100 in my two channel setup at my PC hooked up to ls50s and it has more than enough power. Your review has me interested in the a-700 for my living room. Your the man, keep it up!
Looks a great amp, though probably worthy of trying with better loudspeakers, great video, always enjoy these, the older ones and the newer ones alike.
I was about to order 2 crown Amps and so happens I walk into my favorite spot in Baltimore SoundScape.. This Amp $499.00 that was a no Brainer, black friday or not.. Thank you for your service.. Plus I've been buying there for 30 years.. 😉
Very nice review. Saint-Sanes a good reference piece! My issue with Emotiva is not with their amps, but the pre/pros are quite complex...fails badly at the "wife" test. I'm not sure if Klipsch is the best speaker of choice to make such an assessment, but you made your point very clear. Subscribed!
Glad I found your channel! Will you be testing the PSA S3611 anytime soon? I hope so cause I am sure your review will be epic. SVS PB 16 Ultra or the PSA S3611 are my choices so hopefully your review will make the choice easier thanks and keep up the great work.
I wanna elevate my audio as well, but i'd have to get a preout processor or new receiver with preouts.... Maybe another year or two... Nice review buddy 😉
Thanks! The XPA line is more watts per channel and xlr inputs. Between the two I’d choose the XPA. Here’s my XPA review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XjRs3SlGAyM.html
Do you think using the amp improves sound quality even at lower volumes? I'm debating if it's worth spending the money on an amp even if I'm just going to be using it in a bedroom (nowhere near reference levels).
I have a emotiva A700 and it just started making the same noise, I noticed the internal cooling fans were fluctuating with the noise as well I will try calling emotiva to see if they will even do anything since it just passed the 3 year mark a month ago.
I want to purchase an BasX A3...my question is will my Onkyo RZ50's preouts have enough power to drive the A3, and how do you determine the preout wattage...or how much preout wattage is needed to drive power amplifers.
Hi guys! There is no general blu ray customer service, so I figured maybe you could help me. I kinda know my way around tech stuff, incl. blu ray systems etc. I purchased recently a sony ubp-x 700 UHD player, and hooked it up to an avr (that supports 4K pass-through) and than to a 4K projector. Everything is HDCCP 2.2 bla bla. Now. When I enter the uhd player' s menu, the projector receives a 3840x2160 p signal. But, when I play 4K blu ray discs (real 4K discs either with native 4k or 4K master) the resolution is only 1080p. There is no such thing in settings, as disc output resolution whatsoever. Please help me!
Also, I have connected a pc via Hdmi to the avr (avr is running the same long hdmi to the projector) and there has been a perfect 4K connection...so the cables and the avr is not in tha game anymore
@Home Theater Hobbyist I have question, may Amplifier is Pioneer Elite LX-503. May plan is 7.2.4, If I will use this Emotiva A-500, To run my 7.2.4 channel, I will use 1 channel for front (L & R), 1 Channel for center and 2 channel for my additional Hight speaker for my atmos. It this A-500 is ok for that plan?
I recently purchased the emotive A3 And I also have a denon 4400h and using the trigger Cable. My question to you is did you had a problem with loud pops out of your front channel speakers at start up and if you did how did you resolve the issue because that’s what I’m having right now only makes us pop sound when it turns on.. thank you
I don’t remember having that issue but contact Emotiva customer service and let them know. I’m not sure what they’ll do but it’s good to talk to the experts.
Hey everyone. Does it makes sense to get one a500 for my Denon x4500h for better sound? I think the difference in Watts per Channel is not that big. Thanks
One of the main benefits is dedicated power per channel. Here’s a video detailing other benefits: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fq8of0WkjCk.html
Great vid thanks for the info i have a question..my old kenwood krf-x9090d does not have a trigger remote output would i still be able to use the emotiva 500 without that output? Also as you stated the speaker wires for the five channels would go on the emotiva amp but i still have two back surrounds going into the receiver.would those still be fine as they are going into the kenwood? Thanks
Thanks, Yes you can still use your Kenwood without the trigger cable. The trigger cable tells the amp to turn on and off with your receiver. It can still be powered on from the box but it doesn't come with a remote. Yes you can still use your Kenwood for the remaining channels just use the RCA connections from your Kenwood to the amp for the 5 channels.
These are in two different price categories. The Monolith is more expensive but it has more power per channel and balanced (XLR) connections if you need those. You could also look at the Emoitva A-5175 which has a little more power than the A-500 (no XLR connections). Ultimately, if you just want to get your feet wet and try external amplification then go A-500 but if you're looking long term and not upgrading spend the extra and get more power and connections for greater long term flexibility. Both are great amps it's just the Monolith gives a little more flexibility than the A-500. If you haven't seen it, I reviewed the Monolith 7 channel here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6szMvmGgZDk.html
Hello Cody 👋🏼 I have a Yamaha RX-A1030 with SVS Prime Towers and a Svs Ultra center channel and Prime Elevation for surrounds. My question is Can I only run my front LCR with this BasX A5 and how May watts would I get to the front stage speakers? 🔊🔊🔊 I’m thinking my receiver can run the back surround and front presences speakers I also have 3 Svs PB-1000 pro Thank you I’m only considering this unit rather than the a3 is because there is a guy selling it for $400 close to me. Besides that I’ll save for a new BasX A3
Hi 👋🏾! Nice setup 😁. You should get between 95 and 120 watts per channel to your front stage. If you get it you can always try different combinations of speakers being driven by the A5 and your 1030 to see which you prefer. 😁
good friend aver if you could help me ... I currently have a sr7013 I wanted to add an emotional stage basx a-700 but my question is whether for a room of 14m2 and already having amplifier the front trio if it would be worthwhile to catch the emotional and leave the sr7013 as previous !!! the sr7013 is only moving the 4 atmos and two surround and the trio per stage !!! my question is to improve the sound with the sr7013 as previous + the emotional or for my room would not improve anything? greetings and I follow you often, keep going with your revieuw greetings from Spain
Dam my klipsch rp280fa never move like that. And I have a marantz sr6013 and a emotiva xpa-2 gen 2 at 300 wpc ... there set to small crossoverd at 80hz ?!
Just so I'm clear because I'm not that smart...I can buy one of these amps, to pair with let's say a Marantz NR1711 slim, which has like 50watts per channel with this to give it more power for my speakers?
Yes, if the speakers need more power than the A-500 can supply more than the Marantz you mention. Just make sure it has pre-out connections to connect the processor and amplifier.
Hey nice review, i plan to buy a-500 but "on the paper" my avr, denon x4500h, has more power. Since x4400h and 4500h are almost identical, would you really recommend this power amp, does it really make a difference? i have dali oberon 7s on the front oberon vocal as center and oberon3 for surrounds, plus 2 alteco c1 for front atmos. My plan is to get 2 more rear atmos speakers, use 5 ear level speakers with emotiva a-500 and heights with x4500h. Thanks.
@@balkarcanbul3396 you dont have more power with the denon what ever even the flagship! the power rating are for 2 channels driven only so on a 9 channel you lucky if you get close to 60w rms into 8 ohm, with the a 500 you get 80 rms into 8 ohm all channel driven.... Big Diffference!
JSW thank you!! I am gonna get an amp thats for sure. I wonder a500 is enough for me, or should i go sth bigger/better like xpa5. Three times the price-power, maybe an overkill for me. I havent decided yet.
@@balkarcanbul3396 the a500 is very good to a medium room what you can do is get the a500 for the surround and if you have big tower speaker you can get the A300 for the front then let the avr powered the atmos speakres.. this is what i do and it really sound amazing!
It can give more clarity and definitions especially with speakers that aren’t as efficient. Honestly though room treatment will make a bigger difference in sound quality if your room isn’t treated.
It is difficult because how do you know when to stop?!! 😅😅 My recommendation is to treat the points of first reflection at a minimum and that will improve sound quality. I enjoy my amplifier but I notice a bigger difference with treatment on the wall. But if you are an audiophile or are moving in that direction an amplifier is a good purchase.
Thanks for a good review, i have bought the Emotiva BasX A-700 i getting it tomorow :-) i have the Marantz sr 7012 and a surround setup 7.2.4 and 2 zones to power :-)
Hi, I’m new to amps and I’m confused. I have my speakers calibrated with my denon 3600h. If I was to connect this amp do I need to run calibration again with this connected or is it a connect and play? Or would I have to calibrate the tones again to 75db?
Would the amplifier work great with a klipsch 504c, and the 280f towers. Does anyone have experience with the amplifier and do they work great for powering towers at high volume with no distortion
Hi just bought one this week so after connecting my wire to emotiva and my denon do I need to anything on my denon x4400h speaker config please help lol
Hi! Once it’s all connected (speaker wire, rca, and trigger cable if you’re using that) run the auto calibration software on the Denon. It will set the audio levels and distances. Once auto cal completes you can adjust the levels if you desire. I have the 4400h too and it sends signals through the Pre-amp connections so there isn’t anything specific you need to change in the setup menu. Just make sure the speaker setup is correct, 5.1, 7.1, etc. Hopefully this helps!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist thank you so much i was confused I thought maybe I should change the settings on my denon such as pre amp I am using it for my 3 channel front stage
Another great review. I’m new to this and I’m starting to build my system. Going all Klipsch along with a Denon 4500. One question that I really hope you can answer, let’s say your receiver pushes out 125w per channel and you get an amplifier that outputs 100w, so now you’re pushing out a total of 225w per channel or are you only pushing out what the amplifier is rated at since your speakers are hooked up to it instead of your avr?
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. My Denon 4500 on paper is rated I believe 165w per channel which I know that’s not totally accurate I should get an amp that’s actually puts out 200w or so to make a difference?
I'm a fan of your videos, many solutions .. questions ? How can I have a Dolby atmos sound, more immersive ... with what I have .. in audyssey calibration I put the crossover center 40HZ, front 60hz, surround 90hz, surround back 80HZ, dolby atmos 80HZ, and subwoofer both 120HZ .. (I read 80hz all) I want opinions .. and tone center - 9.5 DB, front - 6.5 db, surround -5.0 db, dolby Atmos - 3.0 db .. lowering the tone (+ or -) db increases the volume, this could affect the quality of the sound? Home theater 7.2.2 AVR Marantz 7012 Bluray 4k Panasonic DP ub820 Front klipsch RF-42 II Center RP 504C Subwoofer klipsch R-110SW Subwoofer SVS PB 1000 Surround and surround back RB-41 II Dolby Atmos Rp 140SA Emotiva BasX A-700 (only 5 channels used, center, front left, front right , Dolby Atmos left and right ) living Room size 13 x 31 (403 sq feet complete) (used front TV is 13 x 12 sq feet)
First of all, nice setup!!!! I would set all of your speakers to 80Hz. Make sure all your speakers a set to small in the speaker configuration menu. That way all the bass below your crossover setting will go to the subwoofers. In the tone menu + should increase the volume and - should decrease it, experiment with it to verify. If you want more sound from your Atmos speakers you may want to increase the volume to those speakers. Also make sure your Marantz is decoding the the audio from your disc and playing it back directly, no extra stuff like Virtual modes. Hope this help and thanks for commenting!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I bought emotiva A700 because the way you said is easy and constructive for me thanks.. no matter my center is more big? than another's ..Center RP 504C.. and up volumen (+db) no down fidelity ,quality sound? thanks
I just checked a photo online and it appears there are only "Pre-out" connections for front left and right speakers at the bottom near the Subwoofer out connections so those are the only two you can use for an external amp.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Thanks !!found this in Amazon ," CESS-024-3f Banana Plugs to RCA Cable 3 FT, Phono Banana Speaker Cable, 2 Pack" . I think this will help to take the out to amplify?Any insight please?
Gentlemen, I own the A-700 model of these amps, and to my disappointment I have sent one back with the same hissing sounds inside the unit. I received a replacement within the week and after turning it on for about 15 minutes the replacement unit also had the same hissing sound. I am highly upset because it seems I will need to call emotiva back again and have it replaced for the second time!!.. i am totally traumatized by this and surely I feel that the third unit will have the same issue. I must admit it does give my speakers great sound and power.
These amp are plagued with hissing noises that are unbearable! I bought the A500 and within an hour the hissing noise started. Emotiva was really good about getting me a replacement but I had to pay for the shipping. I bought the A700 and in less than a half hour the hissing noise started. Not good! Buyer beware!
