Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are doing a dogfight with EMPs, but our wings are attached with detachable blocks! Any EMP hit could potentially disconnect any or all of our wings!

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

I have a cool idea: Dogfighting but the weapons are tied to a timer and fire periodically without input - you basically have to keep the lock till the gun fires

Sounds good, and maybe every weapon attached adds on to it, so you can't control which weapon you shoot.

With the space map available, have you guys considered doing a "Rods from God" challenge? Each player has to build a satellite capable of launching long projectiles, using only pistons for launching.

Yeah, I think intentionally making your vehicle handle chaotically is a viable strategy in these battles.

@@theminerboy5694 it's because the aim assist shot is a prediction of where an object or vehicle is going so a vehicle that changes directions fast enough with enough speed is completely impossible to hit as the aim assist will aim at the direction it's going while accounting it's speed so where it shoots is actually way further then the actual vehicle but when that same vehicle Changes directions that initial prediction is gonna be way off I'm actually kind of curious on how it calculates the targets/objects direction because if it's the seats directions then what would happen if you placed the seat backwards? If it's the targets general mass then you could just put a bunch of weighs in the middle and make it rotate chaotically making the objects direction unreadable to the aim assist

Here's an idea: Julklapp Racing (Julklapp means Secret Santa, basically). You build racing vehicles, but you also get a copy of the other players vehicles and have to swap to the other at half distance. Meaning that you can either build a simple vehicle that's also simple to drive for the other player(s), or make it complicated to use/figure out which might also make it harder to drive yourself. Or you build in some sabotage mechanism that for example, deploys a vehicle flipper if a certain key isn't pressed every 10 seconds. Either you go in blind or maybe everyone gets like 30 seconds before the race to test the other player's vehicles.

That would be hilarious, maybe just the seat on a detachable block? There's still a chance that an EMP wouldn't trigger it when it hit but I imagine they'd be fast rounds

You credit your size and speed for not getting hit but I think the real culprit is that your plane is a little unstable, which leads to constantly varying flight paths.

Yay, my suggestion from a few videos back! I must admit, the longer I thought about that concept, the more I thought every round would just be decided by whoever hits first, making the concept not that interesting anymore. But you guys came up with separate and innovative ways to mitigate that and have some really exciting and quite lengthy bouts. Great job!

You could make this challenge even more insane. Do every major component on detatchable blocks. Thrust, weapon, cockpit. Everything has a chance to get yeetus deletus and that makes the game even more of a gamble. Are you going to lose an aileron? Maybe an engine. Or maybe your cockpit is going to decide it's going to try to go solo and ditch the rest of the vehicle. I mean, this can work with EVERYTHING. I'd love to see this with boats, spacecraft, cars. You name it. EMP vs vehicles that can fall apart, very open idea.

I have an interesting idea for a biplane it would have separate controls for each set so if 1/4th disconnects you set the other to a position where it counteracts itself

I wonder if you could do this where the detachable blocks were holding blades on a helicopter engine, so you lose blades when you get hit. Seems like it'd be fun.

Detachable block planes vs ground vehicles. Like have the ground vehicles have the EMP, while the plains have like bombs or something, forcing each group to have different tactics.

Would still love to see a Trailmakers battle (land or air, your choice) where you have shields that you can only take out with EMP weaponry before you're allowed to shoot the creation with ballistic weapons only.

Here's an idea for your Crashlander Survival: You should make a suspension mug that is an actual auto-stabilizer for your truck, because it would be useful, functional and look cool while doing it.

Idk if this has already been done by scrapman, but it would be awesome to see an all-out dogfight. Emps, guns ect allowed. would be cool to see how he does it.

I would have added an option to personally choose to separate wings that conflict as a last resort. To potentially give you more air time and stability

Try this with boats that has a middle section that needs some amount of weight blocks that makes it guaranteed to sink without lots of support, and detatchable sections that keep it afloat.

idea: what if you did a dogfight where u set the EMPs to have a delay of 1.5 seconds so u have to predict when u will get a lock. I think this would be cool with some other restrictions and quirks in play as well

Could have multiple sets of wings where opposing pairs have a sensor and an AND gate so you automatically lose the matched wing. Also a button to just toss the opposing wing manually if you lose one.

I would have bound the detachable blocks for each wing(or tail) with an key so if only on gets detached you can detach the parralel one to stabilize.

Maybe an EMP dogfight but for every block you add you have to add 1 detachable block. Does not matter where but half your plane has to be detachable. As an extra rule to make this harder all detachables have to connect to another normal block.

The ailerons do in fact generate lift, but it's a very small amount. The only way I could get a plane with only two ailerons for lift to take off was to drag glitch it.

Try detaching the opposite wing if it's counterpart gets detached. It will give you some more air time.

wont the less parts that can be effected by the EMP drastically increase the risk that a vital part will be effected by the EMP? would it not be better to try and put on as much as possible within the rules? idea: EMP fight with everything exept the planes body being attached with detachable blocks? i.e the engines, weapon, all control surfaces, the cockpit. or make a plane out of detachable blocks with as few blocks as possible.

if you make other video of detachabeble wings or something detachable, you can try to disconect the wing that makes you lose control when you lose the wing of the other side, and maybe it would be as stable as this plane you built, but if the plane can fly without wings, it should be a incredible win, because if you lose one wing and you lose control, you can detach the other wing and try to control it, and also it could fly if it lose all the wings and stabilizers, you can continue flying and survive if you lose all detachable parts, you only need to make it fly without needing any of the detachables, and afeter making it you only add the detachables and each detachable block should need to be asigned to a diferent key to detach the specific one you need to detach, and if you lose all, or detach all the parts, you can still fly

I think if you are constantly turning the targeting system cant account for that. So more agile plane might be best plane when it comes to dogfights.

I wonder how a build that puts the wings in the middle would do for this? If you lose one, it wouldn't change much other than lift since your weight is on the outside of the build not the inside.

Sorry I’m still trying to see the logic behind less detachable blocks meaning less likely for something to detatch… wouldn’t that make the chance greater because there’s less to choose from
