Qianlong was around 55 years old when Yongi died so he wasn’t old and frail and Consort Yu was not a favoured concubine of Qianlong, everyone knows this fact. Yongi was his favourite son but not his mother.
I recently subscribed to this channel. I love stories on ancient cultures and your channel is very informative. After I watched the video of Consort Yu and Emperor Qialong, are there any videos regarding the emperor and his relationship with Consort Ling. I have seen two stories with a different take on this relationship and I am just curious of both stories blurred the lines. Thank you.
I wouldn’t rely on this channel for historical accuracy. After their son died, Consort Yu was neglected by the emperor. She was not a favored consort. Qianlong was not frail during this fire. Almost all consorts had a flattering name change or upgrade in rank upon death. This was standard practice. She was neglected not favored.
something is a bit off. Yongqi died at the age of 25 of bone tuberculosis...so he had little hope of survival no matter what. At that time, the Emperor was only in his 50's. Yongqi died before the Step Empress (1766) and Wei Yingluo (Imperial Noble Consort Ling) in 1775. Qianlong died in 1797 well into his 80's.
Her son became the Jiaqing Emperor because there were not many capable adult sons around. He was seen as the "beginning of the end" of the Qing dynasty.
@@crystalamber167 Sorry, I got all those concubines names mixed up. Concubine Yu lived till old age & I read that the emperor met with her everyday for dinner.
