I've been listening to black metal for almost 12 years, started out with the typical norwegian bands and I've pretty much explored every single corner the genre has to offer. From the more easy listening symphonic bands, to the more complex, progressive ones. From the rawest, most hateful antichristian bands to the hypnotizing atmospheric ones. And yet I still come back to this particular song from time to time, it has something powerful that I can't quite put into words. It gives that mystic, evil, yet depressive feeling this particular style of black metal is known for. Not just plain, mindless blasting like most people think of the genre as.

When I bought the cd a milliion years ago this video came on the disc (or another disc) and my friend and I watched it on a little 14" CRT monitor completely mesmerized.

The lyrics of the final verse are just too good!

The first time I saw this video was in '97 on "EL HUEVO", a pub bar in Valparaíso (Chile). There was a huge screen on mute, and they were playing some other music (I can't recall it right now). As it progress the video I could recognize Samoth and Ihsahn, but I wasn't completely sure that THAT was an EMPEROR video. It was broadcast on MTV Latin America and the credits appears at the end of the video, only then I realized that I' ve just watch one of the first black metal videos on mute while listening some other crappy music. Obviously I was in that pub bar invited for a girl I liked at the time.

Damn I remeber this from my Middle School days.

Though I like "Prometheus" more than any other record, I will never forget the first time I heard this album. No black metal band ever hit this hard.
