Don't forget Donnie Sloan and Peter Mayes who contribute a lot to the recordings! Fun fact, "Walking on a Dream" was almost 100% Donnie - he wrote most of it and played bass, guitar and drums on that song :)
I'm 54 and have been a music fan since I was a small kid. Empire of the Sun is one of my favorite bands. I have tickets to see them in May at Echostage in Washington DC.
being 54 and growing up in the late 70s and 80s I love music and this is an example up some great music. the lead singers attire kind of reminds me of early Peter Gabriel.
@@DD-vl4ih If you mean over produced you say "too produced" , two 'o's. These guys are playing live. It's on Later With Jools Holland. I think the whole thing sounds audibly rich and beautiful. Like a lovely warm puff pastry mince pie at Christmas. Man , the sounds they're getting out of those guitars.
It's an excellent song and sounded great live. Kudos to the band for the whole package -- costumes, set design, choreography -- and to the BBC for the sound mixing and camerawork. There isn't anything on US television that can hold a candle to Jools' show.
With COVID 19 messing up the world now, it feels like another life ago, but I saw EOTS last year in Dallas! Haven't seen a live concert in forever but HAD TO SEE MY FAVORITE BAND! So glad I did. This song and all the others were just awesome! This puts me in my happy place. About to SPOTIFY all the songs on full blast while WFH!! xoxo
In memory of you - my gorgeous Sammy, who introduced me to this video not that long ago (omg, we loved that guitar solo!!!). I'll love you forever. Never, ever forgotten... 💝🙏🌹🥰🦋😘
Just discovered this band recently, and boy am I pissed! When it comes to Dance/Pop/Rock, this is as close to perfect as it gets for me. This is my favorite tv performance of them that I’ve seen. I believe the original recording is in a higher key, but I much prefer this version.
I reckon! What do you think of that last 20 seconds of magic at the end there with the guitar solo?! - Talk about that old performance strategy of "Leave them wanting more." I could listen to a 10-min. extended play of that solo alone...
As a newcomer to this party I’m still figuring out what’s going on, but yeah, I agree that Luke is a very good guitarist. At first I wondered with all the costumes why bother playing, since as a front man it tends to inhibit movement onstage (Tobias Forge of Ghost gave up playing once it became apparent that he had to sing lead). My guess is Luke likes playing, thinks he’s good at it, and since he doesn’t play on every single song, it works for him.
Who needs these armchair DJs doing crappy remixes when Luke Steele elevates the song to a whole new level with his vocals and amazing guitar playing. I'm 54 and I love this band. They've put everything into the music and also the visuals. That level of attention to give the fans what they love is what puts Empire Of The Sun right at the top.
The choreography and suits are gorgeous, you try it at home and see how far you get!!. What a wonderful, probably the best Jools Holland clip ever. Although Band Of Horses 'No-ones gonna love You Like I do' and Future Islands 'Waiting On you' are close; but this just hits the spot. A Desert Island Disc if ever there was.
I always liked this band but not a fan, only when it was on radio or so I would listen to it, but after listening to the live versions I can say they are very good O.O.. Very impressed with their performance and the high quality musicians they are in fact :D
