I don't know if it helps, but Gentleman can also challenge enemy Gentleman to duels, and I think you just need to send them to an enemy school to steal technology. I'm pretty sure preachers don't do much other than convert, and once you have secular humanism unlocked they become almost useless a lot of the time.
Geat vid, big fan too and can't wait for more of the Road to Independence vids also. I am also requesting, however i wouldn't be that disapointed if you didn't, some more Company of Heroes gameplays, just some online games now and again, especially since COH Tales of Valor is out. it's better to actually fall back the front line towards the back line. That way the enemy will have to constantly advance and reform while you mow them down. Advancing on them constantly just gives them a nice big solid mass to constantly shoot at.
The mass amount of fire on the enemy lines will easily break their infantry in short order, leaving your infantry intact to fight what is left of the enemy. It is like the phalanx of old, an all or nothing frontal assault designed to smash the enemy quickly and decisivly. It does mean all your troops are for the most part commited so you have no reserves, but anything in front of the formation is in big trouble.
i don't know if some other dutchman already mentioned it, but just as a 'so you know' the ruyters (literal translation= horseback riders) are the royal dutch elite cavelry, only 100 men a unit. they used to be the queens/kings bodyguard in and outside battle. now they're more formal and parade about every year.
On Empire total war campaign is it better to continue the battle when asked the option and chase down the enemy or just end it there with the same results? Also obviously Gentleman can be moved to schools to increase the speed of technology, but what else can they do? I heard that they can steal technology from other nations some how? Also can the preachers/church people lol can they do anything else besides convert people? Newbie in need of some advice.
couldnt agree more with u about the fact that they dont have any marching music... listening to 'The British Grenadiers' while the British march into battle would've made this game epic.
I've got a tactic idea: Light infantry in front in with the light infantry behavior on, Line right behind them, then place dragoons right behind the line infantry. You get 3x the amount of fire with 0 chance of friendly fire. You may have to move your troops forward a bit to get everyone within range, but it tears the enemy line to shreds quickly.
i just bought this game and i want to know how do i get 160 men in 1 line infentry squad and how do i change the firing modes like first line fires then duckes then second line duckes
i not saying your stragey wouldn't work but in battlefield circumstances... your light infanrty would be lose their range advantage while being cut up in crossfire. its unnessasry loses. Plus since line has a shock resistance your planning to win by attrion- a phalax tactic but as napolean/hannibal/aexander prove manuver is the best battlefield tactic.
Hell I know something waaaay better: DarthMod Ultimate Commander... Better Ai, sounds, blodd, smoke, new uniforms, more nations, larger units (up to 375 in a line regiment!) New campaigns and scenarios... I could go on a long time
I though of this tactic too when playing but tested it and its no good. It could be if it did not require soo much micro management but even if you do micro manage the there is little gain.
thats a waste of fire power its better to move your lilght infantrey on the flanks and manuver your draggon on thier ear if possible to not only work on your enemies moral but a enemies volley wont take out your supporting troops on its way to the main target. I don't use dragoons as calvary but rather a mobile firing platform similar to a gunship in modern warfare.
