The best defensiv siege tactic is having broken Walls to lure the enemy inside. Inside make V-Walls of Line infantery between buildings. Morters in center to Force enemy to engange👍🏻
I was wondering... the way he positions his line infantry at the beginning, his second infantry line would also start musket fire and the first line would take freindly fire no?

Hi, stupid question 12 years down the line here... So when you group infantry, and select them to draw them out, they are locked in the same position they were in when you grouped them. How do you draw them out in a line normally without ungrouping them?
I know this video is like 10 years old. But I cant believe how much you dislike 5th rates. They are by far my favourite ship you can use them to kite enemy ships so easy with chain shot. I always have 2 5th rates in every single fleet for kiting. If you destroy their masts thats it, its a win.
I've never noticed canister shot hitting my own men and sometimes I blast it right into the enemy during a Melee charge at my line infantry and never have seen my unit number go down or had men retreat during it am I just missing this or does it not hurt your own troops?

Someone else has said this, and perhaps you have addressed this in future videos, but I concur that the music is rather loud, and competes for attention with your voice in the video. I suggest that in future videos, you go to the menu and lower the game's volume (or even perhaps mute it), so viewers can hear you more clearly, and don't have to actively ignore the music to focus on you. Otherwise, great video. I hope the suggestion helps.
First, great video. Second, you said "you can trade anything", but that is not true. Not only can't you trade things that don't exist in the game (like trading magic the gathering cards), but you also can't even trade everything that does exist in this game (you cannot trade military units)- Superpower 2 had more trade options between nations (including units). There are 8 things max that you can trade, and some of them are greyed out at certain times, like when the two of you are at war, or when you can't ally with someone, because they are enemies of your current allies. Not a huge deal, I know, but you then tried to back it up, gave a list of 3 options, and implied that the options were expansive, when really it in the moderate range when it comes to trade options in strategy games (moderate= 6-12 options). Otherwise, again, great video. Your brief synopsis was informative; it covered a lot in a short time.
I know this video is 10 years old but I've gotten back into the game and what I do is I go against the wind, towards the enemy, in a group line, then circle the lead ship into a wagon wheel. haven't played online but it works like a charm against AI lol.
It's strange that you're saying that you hate the french. I don't get why. I acutally like the french as a faction in this game and in real life I admire their culture. They are our neighbours in europe
From my experience you can use one Admiral's flagship to take out a complete army of enemy ships by uing chain shot. The whole strategy is to continuously maneuver back-and-forth disabling their sails and make them surrender by attacking them in the rear. I then sell the ships off for a profit

"Couldn't find any copies" Man its been almost a decade since i'v had to worry about not getting a copy thanks to online platforms like Steam. I do miss actually going to the store, browsing the shelves for a cool game, and thinking about it all the way home.
