Hello, I have a cleaning service in Youngstown Ohio serving mainly commercial buildings. I have 2 employees. They come in at $12. I know this rate of pay is not a lot so I do give incentives like gas cards and gift cards I buy them Dunkin’ Donuts coffee most mornings. The 1st 30 days no call off I give a $100 gift card as well. I want to do more. Do you have any advice for me? Anything that I can incorporate as my company is expanding.

Great question Kelly! Try asking it on our HR Party of One Community page to see what ideas other HR pros might have. You can find it here: www.bernieportal.com/community/ We also have an entire episode on office perks that you might find helpful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BsNrobjrpFM.html Thanks for watching, and for already giving incentives like gas cards and coffee. Those little things go a long way, so you are off to a great start!

Your video in retaining employees is better than the most around. I'm surprised why people don't like.

1. Look into paying them what they believe they are worth, and listen to them when they proceed to demonstrate why. 2. Listen to your employees who have been highlighting issues.

"what they think they are worth" ..... :°D

@@FranklinPiens I mean, this can be negotiated based on metrics! But saying "No, you are worthless and think too highly of yourself" every time staff brings it up, will increase disengagement. I'm disengaging from a boss who thinks I'm too big for my britches.

I'm almost 50. I have worked in IT for decades. I have never seen any "employe retention strategies." I did have a boss say that he only gives the "acceptable" ratings. He said he would never award anything better.

The Great Recession has forced many businesses to re-evaluate their strategies and priorities. Some have adapted better than others, but all of them have something to teach us about how to build a successful business in today's economy.

It’s tiring when you keep hiring people and firing them!!!! The tendency of gossips for bad employee and employer relationships will damage the company reputation!!!

PAY???????????????????????? This is why HR consultants are a meme these days. They think people stay at the job for dog insurance lol. People don't show up for the ping pong table, they need M-O-N-E-Y.

Treat their employees better, with respect. Employees wants job security as well! Employers needs stop using fear based strategy’s to try controlling their employees constantly and a inefficient no fault attendance policy too. Every company I been at with that policy has very high turnover rates. It’s not working.

Get rid of the toxicity instead of the people who bring it to your attention, as HR usually does.

The Internal Revenue Service issued a renewed warning urging people to carefully review the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) guidelines before trying to claim the credit as promoters continue pushing ineligible people to file. The IRS continues to see third parties aggressively promoting these ERC schemes on radio and online. These promoters charge large upfront fees or a fee that is contingent on the amount of the refund. And the promoters may not inform taxpayers that wage deductions claimed on the business' federal income tax return must be reduced by the amount of the credit. "While this is a legitimate credit that has provided a financial lifeline to millions of businesses, there continue to be promoters who aggressively mislead people and businesses into thinking they can claim these credits. Anyone who is considering claiming this credit needs to carefully review the guidelines. If the tax professional they're using raises questions about the accuracy of the Employee Retention Credit claim, people should listen to their advice. The IRS is actively auditing and conducting criminal investigations related to these false claims. People need to think twice before claiming this." The IRS has been warning about this scheme since last fall, but there continue to be attempts to claim the ERC during the 2023 tax filing season. Tax professionals note they continue to be pressured by people wanting to claim credits improperly. People and businesses can avoid this scheme, and by not filing improper claims in the first place. If the business filed an income tax return deducting qualified wages before it filed an employment tax return claiming the credit, the business should file an amended income tax return to correct any overstated wage deduction. Businesses should be cautious of advertised schemes and direct solicitations promising tax savings that are too good to be true. Taxpayers are always responsible for the information reported on their tax returns. Improperly claiming the ERC could result in taxpayers being required to repay the credit along with penalties and interest. The ERC is on the IRS Dirty Dozen list and based on my discussions with IRS personal they are starting to audit businesses that claimed the deductions. Do something now before it is too late.
