That's why you have to meticulously plot it all out, he's looking ahead as he sets up, "alright so if I have an engine here and a stack of boxes here I'll still be able to shimmy past alright cool"
I’d 100% put one lift on the right hand side and the other in front of the main door, really open it up a bit. Also definitely epoxy the floor or at the very least paint it before getting everything 100% sorted
My thought as well, paint the floor 100%, will make all the difference. And the black shelves was killer! If will is the first employee I guess Matt is just hanging around?
Move the lights dude, if you’re gonna use those lifts, try and move the lights around them, it will look better in the long run for sure, I’d reconsider diagonal placement too…
@@xavierveach2338 that's how I have my lights, in a square around car, LEDs are the way to go, F the florescent tubes that have be replaced randomly every few months.
There's literally nothing stopping him from cutting those chain links a bit shorter around the lifts to make them fit, nobody said he was the brightest kid haha.
Yup, I said the same thing and I have no idea how he didn't think of that especially since Tommy's are like that. He should be running all these things by Tommy, like the lift placement. Tommy would have some good ideas for all this stuff but Rudnik doesn't use his brain a lot. 😂
seems like it might not be actually be a drop ceiling, could just be some trim covering electrical runs to all the lights or it could be a drop ceiling lol
Not to down Will, but he didn’t have much work ethic back in the day when Chris gifted him that Miata. I remember Chris dragging on him about never showing up or having interest to work on it. Hope it all goes well! And angle the lift!!
Regardless, he was given a car with a powertrain, a shop to work in, and tools to work with along with any help he might need. That’s more than a lot of people get started with. Hopefully he’s changed since he gotten older. But to be into cars and have those things handed to you in that scenario. Seems like he would’ve taken advantage instead of leaving Chris hanging out to dry.
You need to be careful if tom is going to run a legit business out of that place. Fire marshal may not like how you want to put the lift beam over the lights.
Tommy wouldn't fuck him like that. Fuck with him, definitely but he'll keep him straight if need be. Sit back, relax, buy some merch if you want to support and enjoy the content boys.
@@lIVINOTAFRAID what the fuck did you even say for the first two sentences. Like I know I was drinking a little bit but not enough for sentences to not make sense
You can order the unions for the shelves on Amazon! I don’t know the part number but we had the same shelves at my old work and we had something similar happen, we were able to order them
Retail secret... If anything is ever mislabeled take a picture, call corporate if they won't sell it to you for the advertised price. Call state checks and balances and report it if corporate doesn't handle it. 10/10 times if you call corporate they'll sell it to you for what the tag said and give you a gift card for your wasted time/gas.
Rud, use plywood and 2x4 for bracing instead of that metal mesh on your shelfs. Same as tommy did, cheap solution to hold a lot more weight ( and stuff wont fall thru ! )
Chris, as far as the layout of the shop fiction trumps form. If the lift fits better diagonal then set it up diagonal. The lights also can be moved up or around. I know moving in with tommy was a big reason why you chose that location but I keep thinking how fast you grew out of the shop in FL, & this one looks to be quite a bit smaller. Food for thought. Happy to see you back in CT, just in time for winter. Being from CT I also did the Florida thing for years and moved back for similar reasons. Edit: saw you went diagonal. Atta boy
That manager was supposed to give you the shelves at the price they show in the store since there was nothing showing otherwise. Since they advertised it that was that’s the price they have to sell it for until they fix it which would have been immediately after. (Worked at Home Depot for about a year and saw this scenario more times than I can count haha)
Lmfao just imagine Chris lugging that shelf onto the scanner and having issues doing so, and the manager comes and say "you want the cooler"? Then Chris just mic drops the shelf and walks out the door
You can always move the lights. I think the 2 lifts being straight is better because that little room in the corner would be in the way the lift would have to be further back losing room
if your not going to pay a professional to do the floors just grind them and seal. i saw a few suggested paint but that will just end up peeling. i kick myself for putting paint down.
Now whatever you can't get Will to do you can get Matt to do. You should make Matt and Will compete in contest like back in the day. One of my favorite videos all time is when you guys had a push-up contest and Will ended up having to wear lipstick that you found in a car. I think contest like that between Will and Matt would be hilarious.
Get rid of the metal grate in those shelves. Replace it with good 3/4 ply wood. Support the center with some ribs. Would have no problem supporting that trans. Those mesh shelves are junk.
Taylor Ray had that same dilemma when he installed his lift at his new house. He ended up cutting holes in the roof to fit the lift posts at max height. You should consider doing the same :)
In the UK, if you go to buy something and it’s different to the price displayed, you pay the lowest price. As you said it becomes false advertisement and the shop can be fined if you go to trading standards and can prove it.
A good way to get the most out of those metal shelves is put 1/2 plywood across it instead of the wire. I have the same type of racks but from Costco and a lot cheaper(160$), I used 5/8 and it seemed like an over kill. This was back before the recent inflation happened.
Both lifts on the right side diagonally. Look way better. Cleaner look. Hang the lights closer to the ceiling or move the lights. This is your forever place with Tommy make it look right.
If u get that shelf the 9000 pound one. One thing I will say of advice is u should get some okay wood to put on top. Yes they hold a lot of weight and are good shelves but the metal shelves have holes and everything falls through and they start to bend easily and rattle a lot. At my shop we have over 100 total shelving and every single one we put some play wood on top of the metal hole thingys idek what to call them lol.
should probably get a sheet of plywood or mdf board to put on top of the shelves to make it more sturdy so that you cold putting the transmission on the bottom shelf etc
Chris you should buy a UV lens filter or just a simple Clear lens filter. Im a photographer and it is used to protect the lenses from damages including scratches, paint or dust. It costs like 5/10 bucks so defo worth it
bro you are killing these videos man , love coming home after a shitty day at work and just chilling and seeing what's cracking! it's got me pumped to work on my 335i which was inspired by you when you bought Tommy's sorry Tom's :D
That shelf is going on sale for labor day so keep your receipts and you can go back and get it priced matched. Make sure the manager does it for you too😂
You can buy the plastic collars for the shelving you have on Amazon cheap! Just measure one you have. Also they have to sell you one for the price that was marked even if it not the right price at Home Depot.
I had the same shelf’s . For weight on the bottom self like engines and trans I just took 2x4s and placed them under the mess top on the ground . Could also cut some plywood kinda like Tommy’s
