I once watched an interview in Thai .... Interviewer: Some foreigners claimed that the monkeys are forced or even beaten to work, Is that true? Monkey owner: It is not true because by nature, the monkeys do not follow the orders just because you beat them, if they don't want to do it, they would prefer being beaten to death rather than following the orders. It is also important to bring the monkey to work otherwise they will feel stressed from not doing anything. ... IMO, the poor practice of using monkey for harvesting coconuts in Thailand might exist, but it is like other animals used by humans. No one can say that zero horse in their countries got a proper care. Thus, saying all coconut products from Thailand is from forced labour of Monkeys is "totally unfair".
I loved everything about this- the animals are treated with compassion and respect. I have respect for these people as they care for their monkeys through old age until they die. In America, people let their draft horses go to slaughter when they’re too old to work- that’s disrespectful to the animal that has worked years for you!
For those who say it's wrong the milenar relation of indigenous people with monkeu in Thailand. Why the western countries don't stop using horse labor in farms? Or dogs in Police/Army? Isn't it labor too?
As long as they are treated well I have no issues with it.. These monkeys seem well taken care of compared to many other farms. Even places like Canada have worse ones.
BuT tHeY aR3 VVyLd AnYmElz As long as they are monkeys are least they are wild animals. Having crocodiles, Snakes, Coyotes, Lions, Tigers, Leopards, Cheetahs, Bobcats as pet animals is perfectly fine though. (Many do, and most monkey haters find it cute when people have such (non primate) wild animals) then the argument that they are "Wild" somehow does not count anymore.
Interesting to see the opposing opinions on this practice, i have to say that an animal living on a chain its whole life is fundamentally wrong in my book.
This was the only thing that bugged me honestly. They seemed well kept otherwise... Better kept then a lot of animals in our countries. Like check Water Buffalo company by PETA. These monkeys at least don't look abused.
If he was released into the wild after he became old it would be certain death. Imagine, you get old, what is better for you, getting taken care of by people in a retirement home, or would you rather be thrown into the forest, amongst wild predator animals, having lived your whole life long in the city?
HIPOCRITAL Karen ... Why don't get rid of horse labor in western countries Farms and Dogs labor in Western countries Police/ Airports, and bees for Honey production in Western countries... It's a deal?
A child may be trained and learn things, to then, when its grown up like this monkey, perform well in jobs. So the young monkeys are trained step by step like school. Till theyare adult and ready to climb trees and do the job with their learned skill.
Why? Every animal on this planet has a purpose. They are using the monkeys because of what the monkey is good at. The monkeys are treated very well. In fact better than those people who steal baby monkeys, and when they can’t handle the monkey any longer let it go in the wild where the monkey will be killed. That’s cruel not what these men are doing with monkeys. Get real- humans have used animals throughout history. Beasts of burden- 🐯❤️
Also it's sad the Horses in the western countries Farms? Dogs in police/Airports? Bees for Honey production? Cows to extract milk? It's basically the same relation the indigenous people of Thailand have with monkeys. What about start complaining about animal labor in YOUR own country to THEM criticize poor people in poor countries? 🤔
Horrible. These monkeys only learn to pick coconuts because they're afraid of what will happen if they don't. Wild animals don't owe humans anything and should be left alone.
Like eating chicken and cows, you also forgot about the dairy industry. Cows are forced to be pregnant for them to produce milk. Now tell me what's more cruel?
You should also condemn the People who use horses for transportation, use Dogs for sniffing drugs, use Cows to plow fields, use Elephants for entertainment, use Rats to detect mines, and use Pigs to find Truffles because these activities are much worse than Monkeys being used to collect Coconuts at least Monkeys enjoy this. The truth is, Humans have been using Animals for manual labor for centuries.
Monkeys climbing trees is abuse? Gobbling up sentimental Peta nonsense, havent you. This is similar to a dog guiding a blind person, one taps into the natural ability of the animal so it can be useful to people. Dogs are social animals and helping ppl is a natural thing, and monkeys climbtrees and pick all kind of things,.
@@kendivedmakarig215All the things you mentioned are true, and people should condemn those people. But don’t say that the monkeys enjoy this. They are being forced to work since they were born. It’s all they know. You think they wouldn’t rather be out in the wild where they belong instead of having to work their whole lives with leashes on? And this is just one of the places that does this. There are so many other places and they have horrible conditions for these monkeys in Thailand.
@@JustMe-vz3wdUsing animals against their free will (they're in a cage and on a leash at all times) in aid of human consumption is immoral and the fact that monkeys like to pick things cannot be used as an excuse. did you talk to the monkeys? did you ask them if they were fine with living their life like this instead of in their natural habitat in the wild?or did you assume so because you're a human and cannot think past your own human experience?
They are chained, not free will help by them. This is animal abuse. Selfish farmers. Also lot of youtubers are posting monkey videos abusing monkeys by making them do things like human.
Horses are also tied up, blindfolded, and used for transportation; Cows are used to plow fields, Dogs were used to sniff drugs so what's the difference??.
@@rosemorris2860 Not only that but even Horses are being tied up and no freewill because Humans are using them for transportation but no one from the west complain. At least these Monkey enjoy it but Horses don't.

They are working animals, not slaves. get a grip and dont gobble up all that emo Peta nonsense. The monkeys dont show signs of abuse like the animals in western circuses.
@@CHICKENNUGGET69360did he say eating cows was not cruel? all animal exploitation practices are cruel. keeping monkeys in a cage is cruel, keeping cows in a cage also.
Gosh very smart !!! But in Pakistan we do have a very big RU-vidr under the name of my village food secret.. his name is mubashar sadiq… he employed RU-vid for this job … and getting paid ….
