Isaiah prophesied the coming of John the Baptist to “prepare the way” for the Lord Jesus. He preached a message of repentance. “Hey, Come to the lowest of places, humble yourselves, be baptized in the water, so that when the One we’ve been waiting for comes… you can be filled.” John lived a life of emptying himself completely, set apart from the world, consecrated to God, so that he could live out his purpose of preparing the way for the Messiah. His message was “I must decrease, He must increase.” What does it look like to live a life of emptying ourselves? It’s a lifestyle of repentance and humility, that we might bear fruit from God and not man. Jesus completely emptied Himself on the cross, for us. He emptied Himself so that we could be a redeemed people - filled with His Spirit.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Would we be a consecrated people, set apart from the world, filled with the things of God.
When we come to God in prayer through the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we are appropriating the infallible word of God, the powerful Blood of Jesus and the finished work of the Cross to release the mighty strength of the Holy Spirit and all of His heavenly resources to intervene in our circumstances- to bring us into a place of strength and victory- where we become more than conquerors.
