It tends to be cast as a lyric tenor. He has an operatic voice. That nearly changes the song into a hymn or a prayer! It definitely takes it to a new level! I'm so thrilled and blessed to have stumbled onto this rendition! It's magical!

I loved him in the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast Concert. That was my first experience with Les Mis, and since then I have been hooked on the show and him as an actor/singer.

Nick Jonas is not a bad singer, he was just majorly outclassed in that production. Think about it: Marius is usually singing opposite either Éponine, Cosette, or Enjolras. So in that production, he tended to be paired with Samantha Barks, Katie Hall, and Ramin Karimloo. Along with Alfie Boe at the point where Valjean tells Marius who he really is, and Hadley Fraser as Grantaire during ABC Cafe. So, majorly outclassed.

@@kueller917 there is a 25th anniversary concert recording of Les Miz uploaded on YT. Stars Alfie Boe, Norm Lewis, Ramin Karimloo, Lea Salonga et al with special performances by Colm Wilkinson, John Owens and other Valjeans plus the orig cast and 25th cast singing One Day More. Look for it!

To be fair, Marius kinda sucks. He's mildly sad for like, 5 minutes after the friend he knew for years died then he goes back to thinking about how much he loves the literal stranger he saw on the streets.

Oh I've just watch the NTLive of Michael and Alfie's Back Together 2020. They're really great! But sadly they didn't sing 'Empty Chairs At Empty Tables'. I'm really looking forward to enjoying their music in reality, instead of on screen.
